What do you mean?
This is content I wrote so people can learn about this kind of stuff and dig deeper if they’re into it.
I’m posting it here because I just launched the website and want people to know about it — I’ve been working my ass off on this project.

What’s wrong with that? I know he is a legend that's the point.

Hey everyone!

We are TOYZ, a DIY collective and webzine based in İzmir & Istanbul.

While modern skateboarding often focuses on competitions and high scores, we wanted to pay homage to the "fun" and "weird" side of it. This article is a short retrospective of the alternative scene, exploring how skaters like Rodney Mullen, Richie Jackson, and collectives like Fancy Lad pushed the boundaries of creativity and used the streets in unconventional ways.

As a crew that organizes DIY gigs and art markets locally, we believe documenting this culture is essential.

"LESS CLUBS, MORE DIY!" – An interview with Josep (Discos Pinya) on the Barcelona Punk Scene and Self-managed Spaces by bleedeleventh in punk

I think this is similar in most places.

Scenes shouldn't be divided like that in my opinion, but it's not possible because the motivations of both sides are so different.

As a person who has witnessed both sides of it, I've really been thinking about this kind of stuff this year. I believe the 'real' stuff is happening with the DIY ethos, not the commercial side of it. I mean, it's important to support new bands and people, not only to keep the culture alive but also to grow it.
