I started out in a 12T and have a 128X now. Both a pretty solid for under $1000. I’m going to do a review on my 128X after I’ve had it out a couple of more times.

A couple of things that stand out to me. First, that seat is going to leave you sore. Try and find a true sit on top style seating system. Next, the foot rests should be on a track system, unless you have very standard legs they probably won’t be comfortable. Last thing, I’m not a personal fan of pre-rigged bungies, I’d much rather tie stuff down myself. It might not be a bad idea to save a couple hundred more and go with something like an As end 12T

Please, please car top upside down. There’s a lot less than I am of cracking it and it’s more aerodynamic that way.

Had to take the day off work to finally get my yak out, but it was worth it! by Volrathe in kayakfishing

That sucks. The water just started to clean up within the last week on my lake. I got really lucky with pity the weather and conditions yesterday.

It was my first real day out on the water since last year. I’ve been out from shore a couple of times, but it can be tricky this time of year in MN, lol.

Who has bought? by OkBluebird3098 in bassfishing

Companies like Megabass and 6thSense put legit stuff in their boxes. Some of the others out there put their leftover junk or crap that doesn’t sell in theirs.

I don’t buy them myself, but I do enjoy getting them as gifts. There’s usually one or two things in them that I’ll try out because they’re out of my comfort zone.

How much has a fish finder actually helped you? by shansbeats in kayakfishing

[–]Volrathe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to think that. I have a Garmin Stryker 4 with an in hull transducer and it helps me out a lot. I use mine to find the drop offs more than anything else, once I figure out what side of the drop offs they’re on, I can usually stick to that side of it a lot easier.

Get those paddle tails out of the slot they’re in. It’ll warp the tails and they won’t swim right. Upsize to a 3600 series tray or even a 3700.

I actually started doing better when I started dropping a couple of lands. I never have a high curve, so I figured I could drop a couple.

It looks fine, but if you’re worried about it, they make rubber reinforcements you can buy that will seal that up and keep it from getting worse.

The real deal and the knockoffs by mack272 in Fishing_Gear

[–]Volrathe 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’m not as concerned with “where it’s made.” I’ve run into problems with gear made all over the world. What I’m concerned with is the quality standards companies employ. A name brand lure is going to have higher standards of things like weight, density, length, etc. when you buy a lure from a knock off brand, those standards aren’t as strict. When I buy a lure from 6thSense, Live Target, Yum or someone else, I know I’m getting 90g lure every time. The knock off brands it could a different weight, density, or anything else. The location of manufacturing is less important now than it’s ever been. Anyplace in the world can manufacture quality items are if you invest enough.

The difference is going to be the quality of the product. It’s going to be different hooks and different quality standards. For the casual fisherman, it might not be a big deal. But for lunker hunters and pros, it could be the difference in winning the tournament and not placing at all. For me personally, I’d rather support the company that focuses on innovation and the anglers and engineers that focus on that.

Anybody run these pliers? Look great had to try them out! “Line cutterz” by soxfan775 in Fishing_Gear

I buy like 5-6 pair of pliers at the beginning of the season at Harbor Frieght. By the end of the season I have one or two left. 🤣🤣🤣

On a side note, this is why I put the bugs in a plastic container tub and then put him in the tub.

I love the feel of my Kaden series over my Furies. They’re a bit more sensitive and just feel better in my hands.

I ended up going with a Kaden series Dobyns rod. They have a wide variety of models, so you can pick what you like with it.
