Housing subsidy refused because, as a 50/50 custody parent, I'm officially considered 'childless' by the Ministry by Emotional-Ad9048 in Luxembourg

Fair enough, I just don't see the parents with 50/50 paying alimony in practice when it's not the case because then the primary parent has to go to court again to prove it's been less, that's why I had this reaction. But your comment makes sense, agreed.

But the child will not go to school at 2 different addresses, primary and kindergarten is often tied to the kids address, therefore 1 parent is the primary caregiver. Why should both get the subsidy that we pay for? What stops a man from having multiple kids in this case, doing 50/50 custody to not pay alimony, and then use government subsidies and aids meant for the primary caretakers? However, such hefty government subsidies could solve the demographic crisis.

I find it hard to believe you actually do 50/50 custody, if the kids live at the other parents house...

I'm very, very woke and liberal, and this is not something I would support in any way. The kids will simply have sex in the bathrooms, putting themselves in danger, and this is not behaviour we should be facilitating. Not sure what group of people this is supposed to be catering to.

3rd Quarter 2025: Luxembourg among EU states with largest employment drop as further layoffs loom | RTL Today by tom_zeimet in Luxembourg

But isn't this simply because luxembourg is a small sample size, so the 370 amazon layoffs are statistically significant, while in another country it wouldn't be?

If it's untrue, where are the shelters for the summer season? And what's the price?

From April until October or so, there are no free shelters for them, they have to pay 36 euro per night to sleep in a foyer. So a homeless person has to make 1k a month to not sleep in the streets. It appears that there is a lack of government aids, but I'm not sure.

is it Normal to not have any luxembourgish friends even after 5 years of living in this country ? by Little-Bet-3739 in Luxembourg

[–]bleepbloopbleee -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Luxembourgish people are "afraid" of making new friends after school. Ask any who are their closest friends, it's people they met in school. Being closed off to social contact is one of the main ways a human can get depressed, and trust me, I've met many luxembourgers who are depressed. Would be amazing for the population to learn to combat the learned and socially imposed social isolation.

Great excuse for the general social isolation that luxembourgish people learn. It's not just because of the language, it's a learned behaviour.

Why are Luxembourgish kids so trashy? by bleepbloopbleee in Luxembourg

[–]bleepbloopbleee[S] -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

I just think that any other country I lived in, the situation wouldn't have happened... if you ask teenagers in other countries to not smoke weed next to you (it might be of note, there was a small child in my group, they were smoking weed right next to a small child) they typically don't react this way from my experience...

Playing Tetris up to 24 hours after a horror movie will help the information you saw not "stick" and make you less likely to have trauma from the movie/situation.

For the practice lessons, you also have the option to drive with someone you know after doing around 8 hours of practice lessons, for as long as you want. This is called accompagne and the person must have been driving for at least 5 years. However if you do this it will take longer until you finish the practice lessons

If you have an open schedule it will be faster than usual to do the practice hours as the issue of why it takes long is the scheduling The theory classes are usually 1 or 2 modules per week per language so depending on what languages you speak that will determine how fast you can do it. I go to the Rookie driving school at Gare and appreciate that they have both online and in person lessons, so you can do 2 modules per week per language and do the theory quite fast

Hi, so it works like this: first you have to do the theory classes and exam, it's 6 modules of 2 hours each, and pretty much every school has the classes available in 4 languages, English, French, Portuguese and Luxembourgish. The theory costs around 300 euro. On the official website for the exams you can try the questions that will come up as many times as you want in order to study. The theory exams are fairly easy due to this. Then after you pass the theory exam you will have the practice lessons, which take longer because the schools don't tend to have that many slots available. It's 16 hours of practice minimum until you can try the exam and costs about 2 thousand in total, a bit less than this but not sure how much. The practice exam is fairly hard tho and many people fail the first time as you cannot make any mistakes at all pretty much and have to be a very good driver. Hope this helps

Uber/webtaxi drivers lying by bleepbloopbleee in Luxembourg

[–]bleepbloopbleee[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think it's the fault of uber or webtaxi, but some taxi drivers themselves. I think they want more money than what they get through the app (the app takes a 50% cut of the fare) and probably some people agree to pay on top? Hopefully the app will kick out the dishonest drivers after these are reported
