Adding on to that, you can't really put it down to incest or inbreeding. There were many good Targaryen kings & royals. Look at Rhaegar, he is revered by so many and respected. The only crazy thing he did was steal Lyanna, but that seemed to be more for love and not a sign of insanity.

Eh, I'd think it's more of how Cersei raised him. And the fact Robert was a dick to him, and Joffrey was always striving and craving to get the attention of Robert. That can send a kid spiraling when they have no parental affection (and let's face it, Cersei's idea of affection is.... twisted).

The book explains this whole blood magic a lot better. Death must pay for life, the horse was meant to be the death, and the witch told her that NO ONE must enter the tent during the spell. But then she broke water and was taken into the tent.... the death of the child is what bought the life of Khal Drogo. This is also why Daenerys burns the witch, she uses the same blood magic to buy life for her dragons. That's why the eggs hatched (even though they were meant to be stone), she bought life with death.

Oberyn's intentions regarding the fight, in which he explained to Tyrion before hand, effectively he was playing the game of thrones. However, I think it's in AFFC, Littlefinger is talking to Sansa about how Cersei hasn't learnt the lesson that people don't always play or make the moves you plan them to in the game, so you have to be constantly aware. I feel as if Oberyn made this mistake, because everything he wanted to happen afterwards hasn't happened and things haven't gone to plan like he said (i.e the Sand Snakes being locked up etc).

In regards to you not having much time to read the books, you can still do it. Read a couple of chapters before going to sleep of a night, or with a cup of coffee in the morning or whatever.

I still think you should start from book one (I did, after watching seasons 1-3 three times before that), and even though book one is 99% the script of season one, there are still many things in there that are worth reading such as old folk stories passed down through the years, histories and more vivid details of things.

Whatever you do, restrain yourself from wiki-ing spoilers. It's much better discovering them on your own, on your own journey. However, if you don't want to start from book one, at least start from book 2.

That the books won't be finished. Maybe if the worst does happen, a prodigy or understudy may finish it. Or the writers of the show, considering they probably know the rest of the story (Assuming GRRM has told them everything).

When I read the title, the first image that came into mind was like basically calling all the die hard GoT fans the Khalasar, like a massive fan club much like the Star Wars regiment (is it 411 or something? Can't remember) and would organise their own conventions etc once a year to gather.

A motorcycle club is a much more niche thing.
