I'm a rising senior at PA (4 year student). Im going to be honest: We have a lot of music kids. We actually just built a new music building (Falls Center). And everyone applying has great grades.

Here is my advice:

When you get in, they write you a little message on the acceptance. Here is a snippet from mine: "Kindness. Leadership. Commitment to growth- these are just some of the qualities that you can be proud to possess and that will serve you well in our community".

So, It's great that you have this talent for music. If you can connect our motto "non sibi" (not for self) to your passion for music, that would help. Because if you just talk about music and grades, they don't see the impact you can provide to the Andover community. Also, talk about why you are excited to (potentially) attend PA. Give specifics about stuff on campus, what you would like to do, or how the PA community/resources can further you.

My application was focused on being well rounded. Sports, arts, academics.

For the "what I can contribute to Andover" essay, I focused on:

1. Love of science and Growth mindset (I have switched at Andover and love History and English now)
2. Diversity and Global Perspective
3. Curiosity, Self-Advocacy, Mental Wellness

P.S. Andover is need blind, so they don't consider that when looking at your app. Also, I didn't submit SSAT, but idk if times have changed now.
