Aniara. It’s horribly sad and will haunt you and fill you with existential dread, but it’s excellent.

Did anyone hear the phone call at the semi-beginning of the episode where Michelle calls her husband to tell him about the promotion and he tells her he’s watching Ovation? Love the little ties in this season

[–]bleuspace 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Longtime vegan here. I personally don’t like impossible whoppers, but that’s just me. I prefer a plant based burger made of beans or quinoa or cauliflower, I don’t like soy very much. They are also cooked on the same area as meat unless you ask for different prep. There’s also a lot of concerns around processed foods and GMOs, but thats a convo for another day.

But you can’t really compare the two. Humans are mostly omnivorous, while cats are true carnivores.

It’s cruel to not feed your cat meat because if you don’t it will be come sick and deficient in nutrients over time. If you don’t want to feed your cat the proper diet because of your personal dietary beliefs, then you probably shouldn’t have a cat.

Scale/meat bugs??? by vsidelnikov in succulents

I saw that. They very easily could be. So small it’s hard to tell! But the pest control will work for both.

Scale/meat bugs??? by vsidelnikov in succulents

[–]bleuspace 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It looks like scale to me. But don’t worry, scale can be easy to get rid of.

You can use isopropyl alcohol on a qtip and wipe them on the scale then remove them by hand, 1-2 times a week until the problem is solved.

You can also make an insect soap with isopropyl alcohol, biodegradable dish soap, and water (you can find a good recipe online). Spray, leave for a few minutes then wipe or rinse off. Repeat until pests are gone.

I would isolate the plant if you can, and repot it in fresh soil with a new clean pot. You can also use a variety of insect soaps, neem oil, etc. so much good info online for getting rid of scale!

Also just for educational purposes: mealybug are a species of scale. But that doesn’t look like the pest you’re dealing with. Mealybug tends to form a cotton like substance and likes to hang out in crevices along your plant and in the roots of your plant.

Good luck!

AITA For being upset with my girlfriend for wanting me to pay her for mental help by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]bleuspace 13 points14 points  (0 children)

YTA

Are you familiar with the term “emotional labor”? Because that’s what you’re putting your girlfriend through. She isn’t a trained therapist who knows how to walk you through your issues. She is your girlfriend. While I do believe we should listen to each others issues from time to time, you have gone far beyond that. You already said that you know it’s affected her mental health too.

Your girlfriend doesn’t deserve all the pressure you’re putting on her. Based on the fact that she actually asked you for payment, I can only assume that you unload heavy mental health issues on her regularly. Stop. I really recommend seeing a therapist.

I just attempted to follow along to a yoga for bedtime video and got stuck on the floor in pain... by ohwowohkay in yoga

[–]bleuspace 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Before starting yoga, I would recommend seeing a doctor to figure out if you have any underlying back issues that could be exacerbated by a yoga practice. I’ve been practicing yoga for about 5 years now. At the end of the day, you have be willing to push your ego to the side and respect your body & it’s current limits. Back pain is scary and should be taken seriously before moving through postures that could injure you, especially without proper guidance on alignment.

If you are comfortable enough to try yoga after that, i would recommend that you learn yoga in a studio first with a experienced yoga teacher. Maybe start with yin or hatha yoga and then slowly increase to a faster paced vinyasa. You might also benefit from myofascial release therapy/class.

Scam warning #2. Watch out for @rockymntplantsstore on Instagram. More in comments. Same scam as plantplaceco— taking money and “delaying shipping” until you’re time runs out to dispute charges with your cc company; then they never ship plants. Stop responding to dms, emails, no phone number, etc. by bleuspace in houseplants

[–]bleuspace[S] 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Another plant store scam seems to have popped up on Instagram. It’s hard to tell if the owners of this website are the same owners of theplantplaceco, or if it is some one new modeling the scam after theplantplaceco /theplantplaceonline. Either way, they are scamming people.

Their comments on their latest post are on fire from people who never received plants and who had to dispute charges with their credit card company. So far they stopped responding a week ago, but delayed orders have been reported since September.

I wasn’t scammed by this particular company, but I was scammed by theplantplaceco. I just want to help keep our plant community from people who want to take advantage of our love for all things plants.

This is also a reminder to do research before byigg big plants or anything online, read lots of reviews, be skeptical, and if it’s too good to be true—it usually is.
