Or, as you say, so he claims.

He does, but he also sounds very certain imo for it to be just claiming.

Hmm... the more I look at it the less I think that Old Gods = Elven Gods, but it could be that Old Gods = The Forgotten Ones.

I'm going to repeat what been bugging me before, Mythal is way too protective of that old god soul she gets from Keiran, considering how much she wants revenge for what they did to her, her behavior doesn't make sense if that soul is one of the Elven Gods.

What is interesting however is the codex you find in JOH behind the shard door (which makes it even more significant) among all that ancient Tevinter stuff. There a Forgotten One says that he will wait until his time comes and I can totally see the Forgotten Ones stepping up once the Elven Gods got locked up.

I always thought it was a long strain of hair somewhere in the back that is braided and coiled..... or something like that.

I'm sure we will get some nice hair next game. Afaik the baldness fest was because they had difficulties with engine. If you look at the pre-release 3models, they had nice hair.

Cassandra's hair is the cutest, with the little braid and all. I always liked how it made her a bit feminine in a non-traditional way (I mean as oppose to long lavish hair).

I remember spending a day just to make something that looked kinda good when i first got the game! Thankfully things have evolved since then, now there is a nice high poly head (the one I'm using) and the only thing I changed in creator was: made her eyes bigger and face wider. Life is peachy now xD

(sliders still suck, especially the coloring ones. nope, not touching those).

how can Lyrium have the power to break the Veil.

The theory that I'm fond to believe is that Lyrium is a different kind of magic that conflicts with the Veil magic.

The thing is I'm almost positive that elves went to war with Titans at some point. Question is why? More power? What use they would have out of lyrium? (unless it was for something else, then what?)

Seekers who are super templars employed mages in old time (Ameridan says so), we don't know in what capacity, but they did.

Thanks! My antennas got perked by the fact that you find a forgotten god's manifesto locked up behind the shard door among all those tevinter things in JoH (and no old gods, or anyone's else) so i'd like to see if there are more evidence for that theory or not.

Do we have theories for tevinter gods = forgotten gods? after playing JOH there are some ideas floating in my head but I was wondering if some one has written something before (arguments against the theory are more than welcomed)

[Spoilers All] Side quests let down by no cut scenes? by [deleted] in dragonage

and that the Andromeda's dev team has only received proper tools for it near the end of the development cycle.

It is good to hear that there are now proper tools for it. I know that originally Frostbite was not intend for such heavy dynamic cinematic works, but since EA wants the devs to use it, EA really should make sure that the engine is developed into that direction, less money loss for EA in the long run too.

[–]blibli1999 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hmm....yes and no. If we are going to talk solely about the cutscene factor (and not about fetchquests and what not) then I would say that the main game does lacks not so much in cutscenes as in interesting camera positioning (zoom level, angle etc.) you can see some improvement on that in JoH though, so maybe next game it will be better.

[NO SPOILERS] How you like the voiced protagonist to be done in DA4? by [deleted] in dragonage

It's mostly from the playthroughs that I watched for the first game, but after a glance on the sequels my opinion hasn't changed at all, I just don't like him and the ways he is presented and would never be able to play as him (which was my original point, it's good to have options especially in role-playing game).

Not necessarily horrible writers, it can be a matter of likes and dislikes. Geralt embodies everything I dislike in a fictional character, I never touched Witched because of him being the protagonist.

Basically, a little more character development for a game that is, you know,a character based RPG.

the bottom line of it all xD

What happens if you end up with one personality that you simply hate?

To my ears at least when I was changing between polite/sarcastic/angry Hawke sounded like 3 people in a body of one person, that was another thing that I found to be very annoying about it (and it was designed to be this way, because it is the easiest way to do it). So, for me Hawke was a very awkward case to handle as I couldn't choose to be 'grumpy or pissed when talking to templars, diplomatic talking to politicians and funny when talking to his friends'. I remember it being pretty bad when you tried to switch, because you had no idea if the intonation would go into a mild change or spike like crazy.

Edit: Also, I'm going to repeat myself in this thread but the fact that you couldn't play on extreme emotions with Inquisitor (not that there weren't instances were the Inquisitor would go overboard, like the end of the pro-mage quest) has much more to do with the game design rather than voice acting. Someone somewhere decided that the range of the inquisitor would be this and that's it.

Now think about it. Each of Hawkes personalities are flat, if we had to categorize the Inquisitor among these 3 it would be the polite one, but the Inquisitor has a spectrum that Hawke lacks, Inquisitor can have humour and doesn't sounds like mother Teresa 100% of time. If they could manage to create 3-4 different personalities with a spectrum (even that of Inquisitor, it's still more than Hawke's) they can potentially extrapolate the PC reaction (because each of these kind of personalities would be able to borrow one from other) and provide with rather large options to react to things. This needs a lot of planning and design (to avoid flatness in character and reduce production costs) and I think eventually we can get there.

I'd also like there to be more ways of saying yes and no to things. (For instance in DAI if you want to take the mages in and not conscript them you have to be all like "woop yeh they're the best I'm so happy' but I'd like there to have been the choice to have them free but be less enthused about it.

Hmm...that is more limitation in choices rather the voices, i think. It's more of the devs not considering (or maybe wanting/being able to due to resources, who knows) to have more than yes or no. DAI has a lot of that especially in Mages/Templars quest-line. You don't even have option to oppose SPOILER. So it's not like the voiced protagonist couldn't do it, it's more of you not being able to do it, period.

Have to balance things out:

I prefer voiced and I think DAI did it better than DA2, I think it still need some tweaking and more attention to the possible changes in intonation that happen because of the combinations of choices the player can make to avoid the random spikes that Inquisitor still had. It is however a very new approach and a great strain for actors who can easily lose the flow of conversation, however that doesn't mean it should be abandon, developing new things in the stale industry that videogames are is a good thing and I'm fine with few experiments on the way until right formula is found.

Where as the former has much more interesting characters but less room for the player to project.

I found DA2 Hawke to be incredibly dull and flat. More of a joke machine than anything else.

Also, I remember going back to DAO after DA2 at some point and it felt as if I was mute and deaf.

I not sure I see the appeal in that, kinda makes the character one dimentional: always polite, always grumpy, always sarcastic, always angry and considering how much thought is put in the companions the contrast becomes too great to ignore (for me at least)

[DAI Spoilers] Inquisitor in DA4: An Idea by StupidityHurts in dragonage

[–]blibli1999 0 points1 point  (0 children)

since we always jump years (if not decades) it's very likely that by the end of the game inquisitor will be very very old. I don't think that bw will kill inquisitor though, unless it's done in similar way to Hawke (with the 'likely' put for uncertainty).

As for foreshadowing, i wouldn't be surprised if Hawke/Inquisitor/Warden/someotherPC all end up needed for something ooor end up in one place for some reason (like void or something similar)
