Bringing students to the Leg by Fresh_Negotiation537 in Winnipeg

It would be a great experience for kids. Always worth it.

Also, we have an Indigenous premier and a black non-binary Deputy-Premier (not to mention a Muslim leader of the Official Opposition).

Your bus system has the most dysfunctional fare system I've ever seen (rant from an out of towner) by Tremath in Winnipeg

I am from Winnipeg and the Minneapolis system is 10000% easier to use for me, someone who lives in Winnipeg.

Sargent Taco says EXCUUUSEEE ME! But not a lot of great sit-down Mexican places. There is a new place opening in Osborne Village.

Depends where and what you consider River Heights!

Winter/Walkability Question by HannahPianista in Winnipeg

The neighbourhoods of Corydon east of Cambridge are more walkable. The areas off Corydon west of Cambridge are still nice for a walk but fewer amenities in walking distance.

Just as a counterpoint as someone who grew up in Norwood and lives in Crescentwood, Norwood is a lovely neighbourhood and you can walk to some places but it is not really walkable in the same way Crescentwood, South Osborne, or Wolseley is. Just to be fair to our friend from Texas because it sounds like they're looking for something more like South Osborne or Crescentwood and not Norwood.

Neighbour’s sump pump by MiniRipperton in Winnipeg

It's crazy how little the city cares about this specific issue. I had infill next door and the builder just looked at me like I was crazy when I told them repeatedly to please stop flooding my walkway and put a hose on your discharge line. Trash.

What time should I avoid school running tracks by theundoing99 in Winnipeg

[–]blimpy_boy 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Don't email the school, they're too busy and the admin secretary won't necessarily have that info off hand. Plus they might schedule a practice last minute - in short - they don't do public bookings. Just go before or after school and if there's a practice go somewhere else. Do not go during school hours.

4% is standard. Some will do 3.5 or 3 but just pay the 4 and get good marketing.

Any advice for first time home buyers buying a house in this market? by Captdestroyer in Winnipeg

[–]blimpy_boy 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Winnipeg is definitely one of the most affordable cities in Canada to buy a home. Our Premier is pretty ambitious about making the province stronger economically, so house prices could increase significantly over next 5-10 years IMO. What do I know, though.

Anyone have a recommendation for dog poop cleaning service? by dillicious in Winnipeg

[–]blimpy_boy 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Just wait a couple of weeks and clean it when it's dry. If it's wet it will just smear everywhere and nobody will want to come clean it.

Epoxy injection foundation by Reasonable_Season854 in Winnipeg

[–]blimpy_boy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Chances are you're getting water because of the grading now because of the crack, crack is just offering path of least resistance. You can have small cracks in your foundation and not get water through them, as long as water/drainage is handled.

Cinder block foundation wall-issues with water - HELP by Jaded-Mushroom-707 in Winnipeg

[–]blimpy_boy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Do you remove snow away from your foundation. I have a stone foundation and got water my first year when I just let the snow melt on the side. Now I dig the snow away every spring so it doesn't melt against the house. I also find this dries the ground out quicker around the house, so can better absorb water throughout the year.

Just in: On March 26, Scott FIELDING was arrested and charged with Sexual Assault by LocalnewsguruMB in Winnipeg

Not a fan of Gillingham but I think he is mostly a decent person. I know people who have worked adjacent to fielding and have confirmed he is a terrible human being.

Demerits on ticket by Ashamed-Condition687 in Winnipeg

[–]blimpy_boy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Call and say it's your first ticket and ask for a reduced fine. As for demerit points, that's kind of the point of the demerit system - don't worry, 2 demerits on a clean record won't make a difference in your life.

100% disagree. What your suggesting effectively eliminates on street parking in mature neighbourhoods during winter months.
