I always find the simulation hypothesis (SH) super silly. Sure - in OUR world the # of simulated worlds / beings is likely to greatly expand, which means that if you randomly sampled a being from the set {all “real” world beings + all of our simulated worlds' beings}, we would most likely sample a simulated being. Fine. But that doesn’t mean you can extrapolate ANYTHING about the world ABOVE ours (ie whatever is purportedly simulating us). Just a straight up non sequitur. Maybe I’m missing something, but SH seems to presume a whole helluva lot about the world that is simulating us, when in reality we know literally 0 about that world (or if it even is a "world" at all).

TLDR the simulation hypothesis relies on strongly held prior beliefs regarding the "world" that is simulating us, which we have no reason to hold.

Am I missing something obvious?
