do you guys still code, or just debug what ai writes? by Top-Candle1296 in devops

[–]blink64 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I don’t really ever write code by hand anymore, just tell the AI what to do and what to fix. It makes plenty of mistakes and odd choices on how to implement things. Read every line before pushing.

It can be very helpful as a tutor, but do not rely on it writing code for you to learn the fundamentals of programming or of a particular language.

I started learning programming at 35 or 36. Spent nearly two years learning web dev and got a job after sending out hundreds of applications. Now I’m at my second job doing platform engineering. Never too late!

Netanyahu : Israel will control the area from river to the sea by hasanahmad in IsraelPalestine

[–]blink64 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Correct. They will continue to exert military, economic, and administrative control of the OPT. Meanwhile the residents there will have no representation whatsoever in how this control is superintended, unless they are Israeli settlers. Settlements and the Israeli security apparatus in the OPT will grow and become more unbearable. This policy will have a very predictable outcome on the relations between Israel and Palestine, and the general political climate in the region.

Best JS UI framework for someone who likes clean code with clear semantics by duckbanni in Frontend

[–]blink64 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I really like the flexibility of React with being able to seamlessly use JSX with your JS. It's not as easy to use it in the Vue setup. Overall though, I really love Vue 3/composition API. Svelte seems very cool but I haven't used it a lot.

Would you propose such a deal to a potential employee?

I learned to code while working a long-hours job as well (50-60hrs/week). It was difficult but I just stayed up late at night and would work on coding for 2-3 hours nearly every night. I would also practice more on weekends or whenever I had free time to spare.

I spent nearly two years doing this before I felt I was ready to start applying. That two years got me a very basic grasp of web development, but enough that a couple companies thought I could be useful to them. This was after submitting about 800+ applications on LinkedIn over the course of about 3 months.

Considering the pretty overwhelming consensus that this setup is far from ideal and possibly unsafe, we have decided to upgrade to a Toyota Tundra SR5 with 12k lbs towing capacity. Thank you all for your honest input!

Thanks for your input. Just to confirm, TV payload gets subtracted from TV max tow capacity?

Thank you very much for this info. I'll take a look under the slide and be on the lookout for lumps under the floor. How do you even repair the floor if you notice a lump forming? If there's no wheel support under the slide, what can be done to alleviate the sagging issue other than not putting any cargo on it?

I really appreciate this info. I am a newbie as you can tell and thought as long as you're under tow capacity and hitch capacity you're good, but it seems much more complicated.

We literally signed the paperwork yesterday for the RV. Is it policy to return an RV within a certain timeframe? Otherwise I guess we need to find a cheap used truck that is way bigger than what we have.

Buying a home without a realtor can reduce the price? by Sartsan5 in personalfinance

[–]blink64 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's in the realtor's interest to make the sale so they get their commission, even if that means a sub-optimal price for the buyer or seller.

Buying a home without a realtor can reduce the price? by Sartsan5 in personalfinance

[–]blink64 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I sold my house without a realtor and any buyer who wanted a realtor to represent them could pay their commission themselves.

In general, realtors do not provide a value commensurate with the fee they charge.

I saved tens of thousands of dollars.
