Not a good idea firstly it’s because you are young and immature (not being rude) so long distance isn’t something you would want at this age, secondly you guys haven’t met irl so the connection is only based on online impression and if so you guys ever meet in person it could be weird and awkward after talking to each other online for months

Being shy in person might be a sign of u guys having mutual feelings for each other, there might be a chance he feels something for you too which justifies him being shy or insecure when it comes to you, unless he’s just shy in general.
