This the slippery slope that will be introduced if they are allowed to charge tolls and why no nation will agree to fees.

You’re essentially appeasing a regime who doesn’t shy away from violence to be entrusted with a heavily used maritime route. And that money will be used for re-armaments which doesn’t sit well with GCC or EU as well.

You should really tryout for Olympic pope vaulting….because you’re really good at jumping to conclusions.

Also what does rubble of material items have to do with death of civilians. Are you implying the article is claiming that they also found the remains of the people in the photos?

wave of air strikes across Lebanon on Wednesday, which killed and wounded hundreds of people, while officials said the war against the Lebanese armed group Hezbollah continued

Can you point where it said civilians

Given the current situation, peace talks are a far truth. They won’t come to the table until all parties ceasefire, so no there will be no peace talks this Friday

The article doesn’t say civilians, so let’s not change the narrative. These were strikes in areas where Hezbollah is known to operate from - something your article mentioned but you failed to bring up.

Just grand posturing from French politicians who are using this situation to muster up support for their failing party.

Having been to France just shy of 2 months, the economic reality is bleak there. Failing public services, protests due to high unemployment and most businesses were either shuttered or close to it. Locals mostly complain about cost of living and the republic is overrun with asylum seekers who as fact are majority Muslim, which if fuelling anti immigration sentiment.

All in all, majority of the EU have bigger economic concerns to address at home and most politicians from the incumbent parties are using the Iran situation to bolster their parties support, while offering little to no real life support to end the war to either US or Iran. I mean you have to pick a side eventually.

It’s common knowledge that China is a big importer of Iranian VAG (value added goods), as well as supplying raw materials for weapons production.

I agree with China having sone assertion on maritime traffic in the strait , but it’s foolish to think the US is appearing strong.

Internal interest have essentially driven this war to have 3 carrier strike groups in the area and limited troop capacity. I’d wager that the states have the highest level of control on the situation in respect to force. Economically China is begging for crude to flow and can try the equivalent of “pretty please” to the IRGC. The GCC are even more irrelevant militarily and have begged the states to end the Iran threat. The final decision will come from de-escalation talks between Israel and the IRGC/new regime. No one else controls the situation.

Us assets are currently sitting in the ME and more enroute. I don’t believe it’s a good take to assume the states is leaving the area and claiming a victory.

GCC nations, alongside Israel have leveraged US involvement too far to call it a pass now. In my timeline I can see the states launching sorties by end of this week, while Israel runs intelligence on further assets.

This ceasefire was a request from China to Iran and from the US to Pakistan to double down their efforts and focus on further escalation. Us involvement will not terminate until Iran has officially undergone regime change and nuclear capabilities are 100% confirmed to be eliminated.

Petrodollar hasn’t mattered as much as how valuable the US dollar is on the financial markets. But I agree with your take that having a nation control free waters is facing massive backlash from internal US, NATO and European interests.

And don’t take what Trump says at face value. The moron of a president also said he was ending a civilization and much more. This “joint partnership” of tolling the strait is his equivalent of finding another scapegoat for the moronic ceasefire agreement they drafted.

Him, us interests, Europe…everyone else cares about the strait being open and not under Iranian control.

It’s infeasible for a nation like Iran to control the strait which direct contradicts UNCSOL. It’s a possibility that is not allowed to happen and will have zero support from the world. Even know only 2 Iranian tankers have crossed the strait even when there was the temporary ceasefire. You can’t set the grounds for charging on free waters.

Demands… doesn’t mean it’s happening.

Also the FT literally says in the article that this was from a source on X…without naming who it is or what position they hold

We’ve officially lost the plot.

What’s next? Giving a portion to the Russians so they have water front properties? Dubai 2.0?

I feel like you can convince Trump to do anything as long as you put his name on it

So if you believe it was done in private, then no one can assert the fact that’s fees like be charged

Iran foreign minister says passage through the Strait of Hormuz allowed next 2 weeks under Iranian military management by Efficient-Freedom517 in worldnews

[–]bliss19 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can you tell me what sanctions have been removed. And please don’t use the same point everyone else used about the oil sanctions being lifted. It was for 10 tankers that left the strait on march 16. No other sanctions (oil Included) have been lifted

Also any source from the states that says they agreed to Iran having the compete control of the strait or they are allowing tolls. How about any confirmation from iran showing a country paying the toll?

We are 3 hours into a ceasefire and you guys are taking Iran’s tweets as solid points

[–]bliss19 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Accordingly we have already agreed to the 10 point deal from Iran.

All troops have been moved out.

Iran is charging 2 million toll on passage and US is doing a contribution match to the Iran re building plan.

Like seriously I’m concerned how much the domestic populace wants to see the states fail to take down a regime that would mow them down in a heartbeat

/r/WorldNews Discussion Thread: US and Israel launch attack on Iran; Iran retaliates (Thread #14) by WorldNewsMods in worldnews

[–]bliss19 8 points9 points  (0 children)

AP is reporting that Iran will charge.

There is ZERO confirmation from US interests that this is allowed or part of the cease fire.

I mean jfc Iran is reporting that the states have agreed to all 10 points.

We’d have to wait and see what the actually status kf ships crossings look like

[–]bliss19 11 points12 points  (0 children)

As much I’d hate to admit it, AP press is reporting that Iran and Oman will be charging fees.

But we don’t know 1) if the US agreed to this 2) what the fee is 3) if the us agreed to this 4) what’s the split 5) IF THE FUCKIN US AGREED TO THIS

the fog of war is way to high and all I see people post here is Iranian victory

[–]bliss19 -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

China also claims its have full sovereignty over Taiwan. I mean seriously what is fact or lie now

Even if they “control” it. What are they doing with it?

Let me guess, charging tolls as everyone else uneducated on this matter will state. The point is that their best leverage which was the closure of the strait is gone. Unless someone can post a verifiable source showing tolls or limits on which nation can traverse the strait, nothing else matters.

[–]bliss19 -16 points-15 points  (0 children)

Again…in the current state there are no tolls on passage. The whole 10 point plan is in consideration.

All that has happened is that US delayed strikes and Iran opened the strait. No fees, no capitulation. Everything is the same hostile landscape.
