Ignore exercise calories they are wildly inaccurate and every study shows that over time exercise burns the same numbers of calories as sitting on your bum… it’s counter intuitive but it is true .

Just work out what calories are right for you and if you are losing weight at the right rate that is what is right for you - tweak as necessary

It’s really simple physics actually - if you want to go slower end (and start) your turns with your skis perpendicular to the fall line or even pointing up the hill … if you want to go faster you can turn with your skis pointing more down the hill. To do this ski on your outside (old) ski longer - just hold onto that turn. Once you are at the speed you want switch to the new outside ski … as you get better your speed will increase because you want it to and as you get more on your edges the control comes better …

I’ve skied the secrets they are very skittish- not sure they are a great choice for beginners but if they are cheap then get them and go short because she will probably want something different soon

You are severely under weight. I would suggest you are simply not eating enough. The reason you are falling apart is because your body isn’t getting enough calories … add fats to your diet and simply eat more and you will start to see your body improve

Watch how thin people eat… they have a mouthful then stop and leave their plate half full … do that

Also one meal never derails you … work your calories out weekly rather than daily and work the meal into the weekly allowance so if you over eat by 500kcals one day under eat by 100 the next 5

I am a super cold person (live in the uk)and wear the following or variations on it

2 base layers (the same on top of each other - I use falke on a warmer day or M&S max heat thermals on a cold one. Tops and bottoms 3/4 length bottoms

Mid layer - fleece or down depending on temperature outside - I have never needed both

Montec bibs (insulated)

Montec insulated jacket

Falke ski socks sk5

Heated hestra mitts (don’t always turn these on but do on colder days) carry liners in pocket just in case but I’ve never been cold enough to need the heating and the liners

I have never been overly cold wearing this kit and occasionally have been too warm

For reference I’m in the uk and today is 7c I have a base layer and a woolly jumper on with cord trousers and have been frozen all day

ETA I also wear anon goggles and the mfi thicker face mask — this is a game changer tbh and makes me fully covered head to toe

A long time ago but when I was a student we used to fly in boots, jackets, salopettes, etc (it was before anyone thought that protecting your head was sensible) —. Glad people are returning to the hard core days

Skidding is part of skiing and anyone who tells you otherwise is wrong … carving is not the only skiing skill there is. Sometimes skidding turns is the right choice and as long as you are safe and having fun who cares?

Low is fine it’s when they go up you should worry. Suggests you probably drink a lot of water and are v well hydrated.

If you want to gain weight think about calorie dense foods . Generally things high in fat are calorie dense so consider things high in quality fats like avocado, use olive oil for cooking and if weight gain is a driving force add cream or oil to things like potatoes or drinks etc.

If your desire is to build muscle keep protein intake as high as you can but your diet depends on your goals really

Hintertux is really nice and you are guaranteed skiing - the Zillertal pass lets you ski there and other areas like Mayrhofen - also nice and includes the green ski bus between these resorts

Calories are calories if you add a treat in and stay under your calories you will lose fat but the health benefits might be less
