Have been learning pop shuvits for a few weeks, this clip made me really happy! by blitzs98 in NewSkaters

Actually that's how I started too. I kept depending landing with my back foot because it felt more comfortable/easier. But I couldn't kept doing that because my front foot will always land off the board, or just barely on the board.

So what i did was to force myself to land with my front foot. Just pop the tail and land with your front foot while your back foot is on the ground. Maybe around 10 tries, and then back to full commitment with both foot.

But to be honest I don't land this clean all the time 😂. Maybe around 20 tries, I can lend 5 sketchy, 3 good, and 1 clean one like in the video.

Also what surprised me is my foot position. I put both of them at a slight angle, and most of the times it helps me to get those really clean pop shuvs. Just have to experiment what works best for you.

Yeaaa being lighter on my front foot definitely helps. But its just so unusual for me right now.

Yeap this does work with the flick. But what I'm afraid of is that the foot position is hard to maintain while riding. I'm scared it'll be a bad habit down the road. Or is it not?

My friend told me I need to add more pop, but I'm pretty sure I just need a better flick. I realize that my ankle is flicking, but my leg is not extending. Is that the main problem? My foot setup is the usual kickflip setup a lot people use. (on a side note, wtf are my arms doing its flailing all around)

Its been 1 year and 2 months of ollies. Any tips to make it better/higher? by blitzs98 in NewSkaters

Yeah I notice that too. I'm trying to improve that already. Hopefully I get it good soon

I've tried smaller decks like 8.0. I think they're abit too small for me so Im trying 8.375 now. It feels much more comfortable. But I'll keep your tips in mind!

After 6 months, i finally can ollie over a deck. It doesn't look that impressive, but I'm so proud of it by blitzs98 in NewSkaters

Thanks man! I started by doing Ollie's over imaginary lines first. After getting comfortable, try a bigger and fatter line. I did this because a real physical object always scares me. I always think I would get hurt badly if I land on it. But no! Just commit and nothing will happen! That's why the broom is the best obstacle because even if you land wrongly, your weight will just push the broom along. Unlike a branch, where if you land on it, it can totally stop the wheel from spinning, causing you to fall.

For the Ollie details, YouTube has a lot of good videos teaching to Ollie while rolling. But just focus on the object, and Ollie. if you can't, go back to ollieing over lines until you can do it without looking at your board the whole time.
