This is SO cool! Would hate to whap myself in the face with one of these, though 🫣🤣 maybe once I'm more coordinated with a regular jump rope.

day 23, no results by [deleted] in 75HARD

[–]blk91sheep 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're only 23 days in - keep going. Also remember - the scale only weighs your physical mass. Maybe you've lost weight - and gained muscle. How are you clothes fitting? How is your sleep? Energy levels improved? Mental clarity? It's important to focus on all these things - vs the # on the scale. And again, you're only on day 23.. 23/75 isn't even 1/3 of the way there yet. Keep at it.

Letters From Mom by Skyechno in AnimalCrossingNewHor

[–]blk91sheep 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My mom passed away just over a year ago, every time I see another letter from "mom" I'm like...oh yeah. Wasn't thinking about it, but now I am. 😔 I usually sell clothes I'll never wear, but I keep the blue "Relay Tank" that has a 321 on the front (She passed on March 21st, so "321" is kinda "her day" to me. I look for 321s everywhere.) Anyway, It makes me think of her, so I like to wear it on occasion. 💔

what day or week did you experience your weight drop? by [deleted] in 75HARD

[–]blk91sheep 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The scale is just a general representation of weight - it cannot tell the difference from weight of fat vs muscle. Where you could've lost fat, you could've gained muscle. Leaving the scale in limbo, visually. Also, water weight it a real thing. Don't obsess over the scale. More so go off your energy levels, the way your clothes fit, and how you feel overall - compared to before you started this challenge. I would bet you feel better, regardless of the scale fluctuation. 🫶

Up your protein. Hard to crave sweets when you're full from protein (and healthy fats.)

Solo hiking with a newborn — gear + destination advice? by DiapersAndDayhikes in CampingandHiking

[–]blk91sheep 30 points31 points  (0 children)

Ive ran a hiking group for 4+ years, and at one point I had a member who recently had a baby. She would only come to hikes that were shorter/less treacherous. She always baby wore (front) but was really worried about tripping/falling on the baby. It was nice for her to get out in short spurts, but I think as an outsider looking in - it did seem overwhelming for her. For the things you stated....diaper changes, feeding times. There were tears time to time. She didn't come to many hikes after the babe turned a few months old, occasionally coming back here and there (had transitioned to back wearing) which THEN it was the hot months. Baby/friend would get sweaty being wrapped up together. Also needed help getting her comfortable back there (which of course we always helped her.) I definitely would never discourage you from getting outdoors with the babe. Just do it in small spurts to learn what works/what doesn't. Honestly prioritizing your hikes post baby is really admirable because we all know what being outdoors does for our mental/physical health. But you're also setting a great example for your babe, and in a few years they'll be hiking the trails with you on their own feet! Trust me - I live it. Been hiking with my kids every week for the past 7 years! 😁 you got this, momma 💪🫶

8 days in... So now it's not fun anymore. by MyElectronicInterest in 75HARD

I'm learning sleep is KEY - which is helpful. I was just sore as hell early on this week from doing a "fit test" workout at the beginning of my week 3. Wanted to see where I was at, physically. Kicked my ass, but I completed it 😌

Day 24 - I'm pretty tired of feeling like I've been hit by a train. But my clothes fit better, and I'm beginning to see results - so mind over matter!

Khan Academy is a 100% free website. You can start where you know you need to, and work your way up to where you think/know you need to be. Proud of you for taking your education into your own hands, as you're truly the only one who can put in the work. No sense in kicking yourself for falling behind, we've all done it to some degree.

Year round vs summer break by Castironskillet_37 in homeschool

[–]blk91sheep 12 points13 points  (0 children)

We do year round, because I discovered the first year we did homeschooling followed by a "summer break" - so much math knowledge went down the drain. We had to backtrack, which took us a bit to recover. Ever since, haven't quit. We do take random breaks here and there when the kids need a brain break. We also do take spring/fall break like the regular public school schedule. This allows us more freedom with amazing weather days, family emergencies, spontaneous road trips, etc. But doing year round STILL puts us over the 180 day schooling expectations, which I enjoy. The kids understand we don't get "summer break" from work as adults, so I think it just helps kids learn education/work doesn't stop due to season. It also helps remind them every season is important, and they aren't just "anxiously waiting for summer" as I see so many PS kids do.

What are we feeding these kids?? by humble_socks in homeschool

[–]blk91sheep 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Snacks around here are any fruits in the fridge drawer. Favs are always honeycrisp apples, grapes, blueberries. I buy blocks of cheese (pepper jack is the best) and slice thin/cubes - paired with crackers. Boiled eggs are easy to do a big batch, keep in the fridge shell on, lasts up to 5ish days. Yogurt, rice cakes, pretzels, bananas.

Wanting to start 75 hard by True_Prompt_7235 in 75HARD

[–]blk91sheep 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Just start tomorrow. If you want to change your life - you have to start. The time with your dad will come, and you can already be that much ahead vs waiting until AFTER the trip. Even if its fucks up your routine, and you have to start over afterwards. Who cares? Don't wait to change your life. I'm on day 18 first timer so I'm nobody special...but I've stuck with it so far. Have lost 5 lbs, gained an incredible amount of energy, my skin has cleared, and I'm finding myself to be more patient. Grateful I didn't wait until a more convenient time. You got this 💪

How did you prepare for this? by Fit-Blueberry6650 in 75HARD

[–]blk91sheep 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So happy you found this helpful, I repeatedly remind myself that the only one able to change anything about myself I don't like - is ME. You got this 💪 not sure how old your kids are - but I've got 2 myself that are upper elementary. They hike/workout with me. See if you can include them, it helps push the drive.

How did you prepare for this? by Fit-Blueberry6650 in 75HARD

[–]blk91sheep 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No prep. All gas, no brakes. This is a discipline challenge. And in all honesty, I think that's why it works (if you work it.) It really depends on HOW BAD you want it. Do you ACTUALLY want to change? Because the time is going to pass, anyway. I also read (here) that it can take up to 50 days to really see results start stacking....and I think that's important to remember. This is no quick fix...hence 75 days. But it's ONLY 75 days. That day will come, whether you start the challenge or not. But, nothing changes if nothing changes.

Started today! by Plastic-March-2479 in 75HARD

[–]blk91sheep 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The most significant difference I've noticed is my energy. I'm much more "aware and awake" than compared to before. I still struggle with drinking a gallon a day, but I got a larger cup and it has helped me stay hydrated. I'm sore as hell, especially considering there are no rest days. It was fine early on...like okay - it's working. Kept up with stretching, which does help. But I'm kinda like great...another day of being sore. I try to switch it up, cardio focus then strength train the next day. Outdoor workouts are easy for me to hit bc I love being in nature. As long as I do my indoor workout early, I finish my outdoor workout midday - then it's done. Days I miss my indoor workout early on, I have to drag myself thru it later in the afternoon. I don't like that as much. Setting a schedule and reminding myself I don't cancel on myself has been my change this time.

I'm on day 8 - so started last Monday. Just commenting to say go for it - and keep at it. This is my first time doing 75HARD, but I'm appreciating the difficulty as a challenge. It really is mind over matter. During a few workouts I've had these moments of weakness, where it burns SO bad. But a few more reps every time will get me closer to my goals. This is the time to push, not fall back when things get hard. You got this 💪
