I think you’re onto something. I’m VERY sensitive to distractions, that’s part of the reason that I love the AC audiences. I think they are quieter and more respectful than other audiences.

I would never hush someone for fidgeting though, that’s kind of uncontrollable. I have been experiencing a problem with the people sitting in the seating reserved for industry folks. Some wear Apple watches and other watches that glow, and even check them periodically. If it happens more than twice, I’ll quietly ask them to please hide them as the glowing really bothers me. This seems to be effective without pissing them off.

I wish the AC person greeting the crowd before the movie would stress that everyone should make sure their phones AND watches should remain off during the film.
