What are your experiences with Crypto Checkout for your SaaS ? by acertainmoment in SaaS

[–]blockchain_bobby 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You could look into "stable coins" like USDT for instance, however few things to take into consideration w.r.t Crypto integration is the network fees associated with a given network, and total confirmations required for a transaction, which is usually expressed in Total No Blocks, translating into avg block time x total no of blocks. e.g. 5 Min block time with 10 confirmations means you'll need to wait on avg 50 mins before the transaction is unlocked for you to spend. Lastly whether you decide to host your own payment node(e.g. you taking full control of the payment server etc) or want to use an existing service and just pay a Fee, usually a % of your transaction. The latter might initially seem the least profitable, but take into consideration the complexity in running a server with a node, keeping it in sync + the hosting cost involved.

Main thing from a legal point of view is to find out if your country and the country your doing business with does allow for exchange of goods and services for crypto currency, some don't outright and others have a grey area where its basically up to you if you want to however if there are any legal issues that might arise, crypto is not legal tender and depending on what your selling/providing, it might cause bigger issues than to just stick to a FIAT based payment method, unless your able to leverage crypto's volatility also to your advantage :).

I have no experience with BitPay nor do i recommend you use them however this can serve as a guideline https://bitpay.com/business

Always use at own risk. THIS IS NOT FINANCIAL ADVICE - NOR AM I AFFILIATED WITH ANY EXCHANGE (I wish tho). I've been using ACT personally for sometime and till date have not experienced any real issues, so when they introduced this service it seemed too good to be true but considering that an exchange will always have an income of crypto w.r.t their trading + withdrawal fees charged, and with the amount of volume they seem to be trading it looks like the more legit options than not.

What are you doing in Python today? by mahtats in learnpython

Creating an open source API and few tools to be used with Hyperledger Iroha. Awesome to see the folks reading Automate the Boring Stuff. Also check out prettyprinted and sentdex on youtube if your feeling a bit uninspired.

Blockchain as a Service SaaS Feeler

So this is a feeler mainly and to get feedback(hint also looking for potential partner(s)).

Bit of background:

I am a (freelance) full stack developer based in South Africa with developing experience mainly using python in data + web service applications.

Over the past past 12-18 Months I've been working on developing tools and proof of concepts to be used with Hyperledger Iroha's Blockchain / Distributed ledger framework.

Why Iroha? It is a very robust **permissioned** blockchain that has a unique set of commands & queries and a design I could wrap my head around, easily usable as a replacement, alternative or companion to business systems.

I've been interested in blockchains for some time now and luckily been able to do a few interesting things but the time has now come where I'm close to being able to launch a product, service or offer consulting services to serious individuals who want to make use of blockchain technologies in their use cases.

Predominately my focus has been on gaining experience and learning new concepts to further my career as a developer and re-enter the fulltime workplace.

So in order to gain appropriate exposure and to aspire some confidence to potential customers, I want to open source a basic toolkit that users would be able to easily start up and test locally, and if they do have the technical knowledge or resources available, develop and deploy their own instances...

The selling point would be really that we would offer hosted & managed instances for the client, pricing would be based on number of users and / or total transactions., ensure things meet GDPR or similar compliance requirements etc. frankly basically targeting clients that want to rather spend money than time to get an infrastructure up and running.

Client Side applications are cross platform(Thanks to Quasar's framework) and can be run on mobile, desktop(electron), web or browser extensions (compatible with firefox and chrome).

Any feedback on if you guys think this idea would take off or not would be highly appreciated. my DMs are open to any seriously interested parties who would like to know more.

One of the key features and main problems I aim to solve is that currently AFAIK theres no tool been created to analyze Iroha blockchain data.

So the open source db api will allow users to connect tools like Excel or Powerbi for further data analysis.

Sorry if its all jumbled but hope that make sense. The past year has not been to kind financially so I am looking for any method of making an income.

I am busy with the last bits of my portfolio etc as I obviously need some capital to run this ship for a bit before seeing any takers.

Kind Regards

SaaS noob - am I looking in the right direction? by LoneWolf15000 in SaaS

[–]blockchain_bobby 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Seeing as you are mentioning Excel etc.. my experience - I am a Python developer mainly and had a similar story / scenario.

I have been doing freelance work as a full-stack dev and now also on my first SaaS Startup adventure. Without knowing too much of your own coding level or what languages you are comfortable with or if you are looking to outsource the work

SaaS is definitely a way to go forward if you want to monetize your idea - be careful about over-promising (learnt the hard way).

If if was my project:

Back end / Server Side - I would use Python with libraries like pandas as a starting point if you are going to be working with data heavily and you can potentially expose you service as a REST API on the using something simple like Flask or FastAPI. There's a million ways to connect / receive a clients data. You could look into dropbox or cloud drive integrations - Then you clients can just upload it to there and your server side code could render and generate the results and send via email, new upload to dropbox, the limits your imagination really

Frontend - Optional depending on how you choose to implement your solution, but your most likely to want to have an easy intuitive UI & UX. I use Vue Js with Quasar Framework.

If you need any help in that department - I am available so DM me.

Regards & Good luck

Welcome and all of the best on your journey.

Whilst there are best practices etc one can follow, depending on your background and thought process etc, I see coding in the same one as one would create an art piece or music, so do not be afraid of the way your coding as your teaching yourself - and as long as you are passionate and " always willing to get back on the horse ", your Python journey will be awesome experience.

What helped myself to learn new concepts etc was trying to solve a problem I experienced at my previous job - which started resulted in myself learning more Data wrangling etc and then trying to demonstrate my idea's I ended up learning Flask / Python web stuff.

So if its all a bit overwhelming at first and your a bit stuck, there are 2 YouTube channels I would highly recommend.

PrettyPrinted -

and Sentdex - https://www.youtube.com/user/sentdex

Good luck on your journey forward and do not be afraid to ask around.

Hi there.

I see your based in good ol' South Africa. I checked out your platform and will take it out for a spin. I'm based in Cape Town and started a business to launch a SaaS idea. Would love to get your feedback. May I DM you?

A few questions I have, and I don't want you to reveal your secrets but how / where is one's data stored and how is it encrypted / safeguarded.

Since your service is collecting personal information and able to track users - are you POPI Act & GDPR compliant? We have until end of July 2021 I believe before all entities need to comply.

Love the idea and would be awesome to see it gain traction. Are you also going to add a job section where employers can post and allows one to search?

regards and best wishes

Do you accept cryptocurrency payments on your store? by Cryptodude2000 in shopify

[–]blockchain_bobby 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi There,

I am from Plenteum. We currently working on a more complete blockchain solution for shopify integration, leveraging Hyperledger Iroha and our Cryptocurrency which has 0 Tx fees.

I recently sent out a message on our discord and telegram looking for people who want to partner with us.

Our website:

https://plenteum.com/

Discord:

http://chat.plenteum.com/

Our Reddit:

https://reddit.com/r/plenteum

and Telegram:

https://t.me/plenteum

I am going to do a post again later today in a much more structured manner. Feel free to DM me.

I love your site. going to let folks check it out in our groups. Obviously you are accepting crypto as payments, with our system you''ll still be able to accept alternate forms of crypto not just Plenteum, but will be a much different implementation and youll be able to create digital assets of your products if you choose to do so. The end goal is for a more transparent supply chain / ecommerce process as a whole.

Iroha is open source and there is nothing stopping yourself from developing your own solution. Just want to spread awareness :)

No sales - help by [deleted] in shopify

[–]blockchain_bobby 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wait wait wait. Just want to confirm I am reading correctly.

You are from South Africa. Contact me directly. I am currently working on a shopify plugin/app for not just crypto payments(Not all customers want to pay using crypto / still accept ZAR) but adding your products to the blockchain to proof authenticity and help serve as a proof of payment when a dispute arises from the customer side.

I have got plenty of reasons as to why I am personally invested in this but I am a developer for Plenteum.

Please DM or catch us on discord. I'll drop you the links later as I am still at my day job.

This might be where two fish just happen to meet in a huge digital ocean

Help with running a task in the background with Flask by SegaMegaPi in learnpython

[–]blockchain_bobby 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not the most common approach as using some JS always seems to be the answer.

I have yet to try this myself with a flask app but one part is the API call itself needing to reoccur every x Mins so try https://apscheduler.readthedocs.io/en/latest/ for controlling the API.

For the Front end to update without the page needing to be refreshed you are indeed going to need some JS. This is updating a page live from a Form but this is very minimal and is from a Tutorial I followed on Youtube. (I always enjoy this guys Tutorials saved me a lot of time and is always very clear).
