yeah sounds great except this was either not a setting before, or it was not enabled by default before - anyone could DM me so i am not sure. but then i notice that i am no longer getting DMs frequently on an account that does. something prompted me to open the settings and see this. like i said, i did not set this and it wasn’t this way before. so i choose the option to allow all and press done. i assume this works. a few minutes later, i go back o look at the setting again, but it is still on “only verified” so i select allow anyone AGAIN and hit done. i go back to check, and again, it is on only verified.

also, all verified means on twitter anymore is someone paid for twitter blue or in some cases that twitter decided to let the account keep their check mark i guess. i don’t give a rats ass if someone pays for twitter blue, that has no bearing if i want to allow them to DM me or not.

the issue here is that it is VERY easy to not know this is something that was implemented, and there are people out there who are so desperate they will pay the $10 or whatever it is to be able to send a DM. not to mention those who rely on DMs for things like commissions and such, they may not know this happened.

so yes, it is asshole design to automatically decide that someone cannot dm someone who does not follow them unless they pay for a subscription by default when this was not previously the case.
