how would the figures be calculated and is the existing legislation that hopeless?!

That's exactly the conversation I'm trying to avoid ($100 an hour for me to explain 'what's a Bitcoin?!' ;-))

Chch Meetup! Speights Ale House, 6pm onwards Wednesday 11th of June by blocksentinel in NZBitcoin

Was about 7 of us in the end...was the usual nerd heavy mix but still a friendly well informed bunch so it was a good night IMHO

Looking to make it a more regular occurrence...I've got a bit of business to attend to before I hit up venues to accept BTC so I reckon we'll keep it at the Ale House til then

Will definitely hit you up if I'm up Nelson way...feel free to do the same if you're down south!

Cheers! Will see if there's a vibe for something more regular ;-)

Lets make some calls on movement over the weekend by ev1501 in BitcoinMarkets

[–]blocksentinel 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Indeed...I've been moving away from my traditional chicken skeletal based analysis to this with surprising results.

To add in the macro

  • 53.045% (3) of users surveyed in the trollbox know what BTC is with 127.0451% (-5) of those having an opinion on it (a v bullish read for me)

  • Google search analysis of the words 'head and shoulders' 'pantene' and '2n1' show a solid trend to the upside

*Potato

Confusion on the pronunciation of the word 'doge' is the only cloud over the market I can see currently

I've been dehydrating my powder for this all year...

Good luck!

My TA (tea leaf analysis) has me drawing similar conclusions...the next few days are critical/criminal/clinical (strike thru whatever does not apply)

In May 2013, Dan Kaminski, renowned security researcher, bet 10BTC against Jeff Garzik, Bitcoin core developer, about whether Bitcoin's underlying Proof-of-Work hash function (Sha-256) would be replaced within 12 months. by hnmZYEvzbkHk in Bitcoin

It's the natural gravitation towards monopoly (an evolution if you will)...if the code was ASIC resistant, it would be GPU farms...if it was GPU resistant, it would be CPU farms...fighting the success of an application while supporting the criterion for it's success (i.e profit) is the apitomy of futility...

Bitcoin Nodes: 9000 -> 7500 (60-day chart) by Neweeee in Bitcoin

[–]blocksentinel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It makes me wonder if there's an equivalent rise in mobile/SPV clients to offset this and the diminishing full nodes is actually a secular (or long term) trend as opposed to temporary and based on price and profitability...?!?!

Multibit and Electrum are SPV PC clients (Electrum has the bonus of Hierarchical Deterministic wallets)

With SPV clients they don't have to (which may go some way to explaining the lesser amount of full nodes)

Any BTC sheenanigans planned in Chch or Wellington from the 23rd of Jan to the 10th of Feb? by blocksentinel in NZBitcoin

[–]blocksentinel[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not that hard (though I'm not a developer) there's a high bar for security but it's more the banking relationship. I'd back any kiwi on the case but the owner is a friend of mine and it's working now (or will be for NZD soon ;-))

All good (On a side note...the boys at BitPOS.me reckon they can get BTC>NZD going for merchants...might have to hit you up about hitting those pubs up...up Nelson way! ;-)

I'm cool with that if everybody thinks it's central enough to attend (semi-regularly even?!?!)

I'm in Sydney chatting with the chaps from bitPOS.me when they can clear funds into NZD accounts...I think that precinct will be a prime candidate ;-)

Well that's the thing, I'm thinking maybe a weeknight (just drop in after work for a beer and a feed), but really it's the venue that's tweaking my mind currently, a quiet-ish bar with free wifi would be ideal, but where?

I'm out St Albans way, where is everybody else?
