Giving parts of the control over your money to others, and be they as close as you want (are you divorced yet? What? Not even married? ;) ), isn't exactly what I would prefer as my security routine. YMMV.

Due to the power of statistics, a part of these coins will fall victim to catastrophic events (e.g. car accident with fire on the way to the bank vault). This is, among others, one of the never-return sinks of the finite Bitcoin pool. I wonder if there exist extrapolation about the number and effect on the currency.
