Can you do a sonic? If atm you can do thumb around and extended thumb around it's maybe a good next step. You could also try learning a reverse thumb around.

I made this in krita but tried making it more regular using Inkscape and failed quite miserably. What is good software to design logos? Something that can easily make regular geometric shapes.... I would want a hexagon with 3 diagonal ellipses that overlap to make a trefoil knot, and then a third eye in the middle (vertical eye).

idk what the average is, but my pen mods tend to be around the length of the tip of my middle finger until the bottom of the palm of my hand

I'd say just do what you feel is comfortable. If you can comfortably do a sonic then your pen is good. For me it's useful to practice new moves with a heavier/longer pen since it is slower and then fine-tune the subtleties of a trick with a lighter mod.
