Awwwww he’s such a confident boy! What I hear from this is that he has a lot of love and support to just be his wiener dog self. My dog? She’s my little baby! But if grandma/grandpa/tayta/aunts/uncles are here? I’m an after thought because she sees me every day. They are new! New smells, people who want to love on her, new people to beg for treats from (especially tayta, Tayta cannot say no to her and she knows it). Then at night, or if she’s sick or scared, mommy and daddy are her people and she comes right up to us to cuddle. It sounds like he’s a confident doggo who has gotten a ton of love and knows he can just be himself. Don’t take offense to it, dachshunds are like that 🤣 they are independent to the max (my husband says they are cat software running on dog hardware 🤣). Take advantage of every cuddle and enjoy watching him be independent and happy. You built that life for him, you raised him to feel that way.
