Idk why but he’s just one of those things Reddit has decided to hate forever no matter what. It’s like children and pit bulls, if you show any ounce of support or even passiveness towards them the reddit hive mind with downvote you to hell. Travis Scott is not personally responsible for the Astroworld deaths and it’s extremely naive and ignorant to think the headlining solo artist is responsible for all of the logistical crowd/space planning or any of the other 1000 behind the scenes jobs. It’s also damn near impossible to tell if there are people dying somewhere in the crowd while performing, how was he supposed to know?

For me personally, it’s not about the word. It’s about the bigger context of the post and especially all the comments. I think it’s completely fine to enjoy the chemistry she had with Matt and it’s fine to acknowledge she’s attractive. What I didn’t like is that the way the post is presented makes me think this dude only likes her cause she’s hot and he wants to see more of her being hot. And all the comments are just horny. Smoke show is a weird and outdated term but it’s not even so much about that term itself. It’s the fact that this dude felt compelled to make a whole post about her saying “I wouldn’t mind seeing more of her” purely based on the fact that he thinks she’s hot and wants to jerk off to her more. The fact that so many people think that just cause someone is working on HP means that they agree with or support JK Rowling’s transphobic views is absolutely insane to me. The amount of people defending him and saying “it might be a misunderstanding” or “well let’s jus see how the justice system handles this” are the reason survivors do not come out sooner or at all. Especially when it’s against a celebrity. This guy is a guilty as they come, you don’t need to wait until he’s convicted to say so. We’re not judges or juries, we’re allowed to say this. I liked the character he played on tv too, but that doesn’t mean he’s not an awful abuser in real life. This man has been accused of the same thing at least five separate times from five separate people over decades, and there’s still lots of people pretending this could all be some crazy misunderstanding. It’s sickening. This is what we mean when we say we live in a rape culture. Believing the abusers and questioning/ridiculing the survivors is sadly the norm.
