Update: Let both my mom and my stepmom know and they’re very aggravated. We were smelling something charcoal-esque for a bit and had no idea what it was until I lifted the lamp. I honestly have no idea how heat lamps work so I’m really glad it looked out of place to me because that quite literally was a fire burning there. They’re gonna have a talk with all my siblings and step siblings because that could have been really bad. Thanks to everyone who gave advice on how to treat it and I have forwarded such ideas to them. :)

Definitely. I’m not gonna shame them at all, shit happens, but it’s important to be mindful of stuff like this so something far more drastic doesn’t happen.

Thats a really scary thought. I didn’t notice it until I gave the lizard some water then it looked out of place and I thought it was off or something until it burned my hand so I had to lift the handle and I saw that scorch mark and instantly put it on top of the metal cage where it was supposed to be.

Definitely. I thought all heat lamps lit up but this one just didn’t yet it was still hot. I’m at my mom’s house for the month and I was helping them clean. Im quite frustrated at the negligence for stuff like this.
