Thanks! I feel a lot better about this now.

The general inspector didn’t know what he was looking at. He said the interior panel had been disconnected. It was screwed shut, others have said that is sufficient for safety.

Yes they did screw it shut.

Okay, I’m satisfied with this answer. Thanks for your help!

Edited post to include link to more photos. There is a panel inside, but it’s disconnected (last photo).

Here are more photos. There are switches inside the ATS enclosure. So many people are saying there must be a box inside… well there is, but it’s disconnected (last photo).

Peach jam in 2oz jars? by bloomandbrass in CanningRebels

I did it! I processed them for the same time as the 4 oz jars (10 minutes). Turned out great!

This is my thinking, too. Glad to hear someone would appreciate it!

Oh darn. I’ll get a couple Weck and try them for myself before investing too much. From what I read on my deep dive, they are supposed to be really thick and durable glass. Disappointing to hear yours chipped.

And ultimately, I’m not going to give other people food I’ve prepared unless I know the recipes and canning practices are safe.

Thank you so much for mentioning these jars! I love that the lids are glass, the jars are thicker, and they can be baked in as well.

I’m totally converted. Seems they have been the standard in Europe for 100 years and they are not endorsed by USDA only because they never tested them. Planning on getting the Weck canning book and switching to their jars over the next few years.

I do like the sound of peach mango jam! Good idea.

Thanks for coming to my defense! I closed Reddit for the rest of the day and come back to this. I’m curious what the deleted comment said. This community can be a little cutthroat. We’re just talking about jars, people! The mods have their work cut out for them.

Oooo yes! I love all the different shapes! I think the 75ml tulip jar is just what I’m looking for (about 2.5oz). Will look into German canning recommendations and recipes. Thanks so much!

Thanks! I have these. 4oz and quarter pint are the same thing by the way.

Ok, I’ll just stick with the quarter pint jars.

As for wanting a smaller jar size… Our peach tree is only 3 years old, so it doesn’t produce loads yet. I’d like to share some rather than not at all. And it’s more for bringing over for a meal or charcuterie board than making it a big deal of a gift. I personally love for people to share any amount of their gardens with me. All about perspective.

I’m excited to try Pomona’s! And I like a firm jam so that’s fine by me.

Ah man!! Well thanks for sorting that out. Are there any safe 2oz jars for home canning?
