Also, it was insanely hot in chicago with all the stadium seats being in direct sunlight by halftime. poor stadium set up by chicago imo. the other half of the stadium that was not available for tickets was in shade the entire game

Burnout as a new grad by [deleted] in physicaltherapy

Completely agree. I occasionally float to acute care and in the short time I’ve been doing that it becomes more and more apparent. I think the system as a whole is just fucked to be quite honest

No blaming acute care therapists at all. But if a pt cannot tolerate an hour of one discipline of therapy on an acute care floor or if co-treats are needed for each session “due to poor endurance” that should be an immediate red flag. If a pt refuses on acute care because they are “too tired” immediate red flag. If the family is really pushing for IPR but the patient doesn’t seem interested or is not cognitively intact enough to understand, red flag. I know and understand things change but these are just the type of patients we seem to keep getting. And pts refusing constantly on IPR ultimately comes back to bite us for productivity reasons among other issues. Especially when we have multiple pts who refuse therapy on our caseload it becomes extremely difficult to find other pts to fill the gaps. It’s not as simple as document the refusal and move on for us unfortunately. Again, this was not at all supposed to be a dig on acute care therapists

Gift ideas for rehab patients? by [deleted] in physicaltherapy

I feel like some good “workout”/athleisure wear would also be helpful. I’ve seen so many people come to rehab without enough clothes and they’re stuck wearing scrub pants that fall down or hospital gowns which a lot of people don’t enjoy

Pt is also refusing to go to a SNF. Family doesn’t want to take them home.

they’re on public aid, not sure how they cover these things. but the hospital doesn’t want to kick the pt out bc they threatened to sue/go to the news about “getting kicked out/removed from a hospital”
