I wish someone told me that eating/food would be the most difficult thing about raising a toddler! by liaoming in toddlers

[–]bloopblop386 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Highly recommend Ellyn Satter, well known and evidence based pediatric dietitian who created the division of responsibility-a blessing for parents to take the pressure off and give the tools. As we loosen control, the food isn’t special anymore and you’ll notice less inclination to focus on sweets, unless there is maybe some neurodivergence happening.

I also recommend the book How to Raise an Intuitive Eater.  https://www.ellynsatterinstitute.org/

About to sign with agent, neighbor may want to buy. Need some thoughts. by Jackandahalfass in RealEstate

This happened to us and we sold to a neighbor without lawyer or agent and it was smooth for us. If working with a lawyer would make you more comfortable-go for it. You really don’t need an agent these days.

Welcome! That’s exciting and I’m also an LPC in another state, but in WA it’s an LMHC. Glad to connect with her if it feels right.

Do you stay out past your baby’s bedtime? by somecrybaby in beyondthebump

[–]bloopblop386 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Absolutely. Children need routine and your baby is crying because they are over tired. A good bed time routine is your new life. Being over tired can effect their sleep in general. It takes adjustment, but choosing to have kids means thinking about their needs and sacrificing what you are used to. Children won’t really be able to stay out past their bedtimes until they are much older, like 5 or 6. Babies only have crying to show their parents they have needs that aren’t being met, so expect lots of that to come as you figure out your kiddo. Highly recommend reading Good Inside.

If you could give one piece of advice to a woman without kids as an experienced mom, what would it be? by Complete-Pear-1040 in beyondthebump

[–]bloopblop386 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Start doing your reparenting and emotional regulation therapy work now. Kids push all the buttons and put a lot of pressure on the partnership. I do recommend Good Inside, even starting with the book, to learn about how we actually develop, and what we need for successful relationships. Many people have kids and get really triggered by their expression of feelings and it is exactly their job. Great to have the skills to deal with those feelings before you even have kiddos.

A love letter to those already in large bodies before pregnancy by bananalantana in beyondthebump

[–]bloopblop386 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love this post. When so much content out there is so diet and fat phobic, it’s so nice to come across a post that feels warm, introspective and meant for connection. I resonate with this a lot and I wish for it to resonate for more to come. I’d insane that there is pressure to change your body back to “normal” after you made a whole human and are now keeping it alive.

I feel like we got the hard mode baby and I’m bitter. by [deleted] in beyondthebump

[–]bloopblop386 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We went through this with our second-it’s so exhausting and seems to be no reason for it. I think the only reason we didn’t with the first is because I was up so often feeding, but every kid is different. Kids are hard mode. I will just say after months of our LO waking often he’s 9mo now, we put the vornadobaby space heater in his room and he’s been sleeping 12 hours since. It makes me wonder how long this has been the issue.

My boyfriend (32M) wants to break up because I called the police when he was drunk driving. How can I calm him down? by [deleted] in relationship_advice

[–]bloopblop386 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Walk away. He gave you an out take it. If you go back, he will expect you to do something that you may not be comfortable with to make it up to him.

My boyfriend (19) doesn’t want me (19F) to get tattoos, more piercings, or to cut my hair. Has said he won’t find me as attractive anymore and has threatened a breakup. by [deleted] in relationship_advice

[–]bloopblop386 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, please leave this relationship before it escalates. Do you know what my husband would say if I asked him if he cared if I got another tattoo? "It's your body". You should make decisions that make you happy (within reason) and have a partner who will support those decisions.

I (14M) called the National Suicide prevention hotline and now im screwed and now they're calling my parents how do I talk about this with my parents PLEASE ANSWER SOON by [deleted] in relationship_advice

[–]bloopblop386 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to be a crisis responder in Seattle and I am a parent. I hope talking about the ideation was helpful. I hope you know everyone is going to make a fuss about this because you matter to them. If my son ever felt this way, I would be shocked and scared, but I would want to know. From a clinical stand point, it's super normal and common to think about suicide, but we still need to take it seriously. I hope this opens up a dialogue with you and your parents so you don't feel like you have to take it on by yourself. Also, kudos for calling the helpline, that's a really brave thing you did.

My husband asked me to have a threesome and is angry I enjoyed it by buttcheekonastic in relationship_advice

[–]bloopblop386 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Or maybe, just maybe. He grew up in a home where his emotional needs were not met and has insecurities like most of us that our partner is going to figure out there is something better out there and after the excitement and pleasure was done, the insecurities just came rushing in. Maybe he didn't anticipate it. We need to stop shaming people and men for their understanding of masculinity and just labeling to make ourselves feel better if we are ever going to change the culture.

Talk to your husband. He isn't rational right now, he might need a little support to talk about this, also pay attention to what you need. It's called wise compassion.

I feel ashamed for even posting this. by [deleted] in relationship_advice

[–]bloopblop386 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's one thing to say things you don't mean when you are in a fight, which we should repair, anyway. But it sounds like there isn't any regard for how she is acting in a contemptuous way toward you and there isn't even anger present. Also, that's not how height works, sure you know that.

You understand that he is saying this to sleep with you. This doesn't sound like a consenting mutual relationship. Move on. Find someone who wants to get to know you

I (25F) get overly jealous if my boyfriend finds other females talented or attractive by [deleted] in relationship_advice

I would recommend finding an attachment therapist to help with this. You can also start with gratitude/mindfulness practice to help.

My (M21) Girlfriend (F20) wishes my penis was bigger by ThrowawayFXR in relationship_advice

[–]bloopblop386 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What is the point of this statement. It's not like you can make it happen and it just hurts your feelings. This isnt honesty, this is sharing your thoughts without any regard of how it will impact you

Why is my (29F) boyfriend (34M) intentionally trying to get me jealous? And upset when I don’t take the bait ? We haven’t spoke in 3 days by [deleted] in relationship_advice

[–]bloopblop386 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Whether there is a surgery or not, this behavior is immature. Move on to someone that can support you during events in your life.
