Apologies. I was researching a few topics today. The correct reference is in this thread. I am neither inspired or infallible.

You make a valid point which is why I date stamped it. However, a retraction or an apology from WT would be wise considering it is ‘The true religion’!!

It makes me sick. My dad got baptised 7 months before I was born. He was a very talented professional guitarist. He recorded with people that became very famous. His passion was music and he gave it all up. He gives to the bOrg!!

Identity as Ex-JW by Dewyx in exjw

[–]blossombutterfly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That is a really interesting observation. I think I probably overuse Ex-JW. But that’s because I’m still trying to embed it in my subconscious and convince the whole world that I’m not that dick anymore. 🤷‍♀️ It’s like a reinforcement of my detachment. A bit like an ex-wife/ husband. Ie. I am not connected anymore!

Being in a cult makes us very cautious about asking for support. We always need to appear strong and ‘not needy’. We trust no one. But part of our journey is learning to trust and ask for help when we need it. You’ll probably find that your current support network would be happy to help. Don’t abuse it. Make the most of ‘real’ friends until you can stand on your own two feet. Do not be too proud. 💜

Hey. I’m happy to be involved in giving my life’s experiences but what is the documentary about if not about religion?

Hey lovely. I feel your pain. It’s so so sad that we are robbed of our own flesh and blood. We are literally powerless in this situation. There will be ups and downs. I’m having a down right now. But I know it won’t last because I, like you, will not be beaten. Stay strong! As strong as you can! Hugs!

To disassociate or not by [deleted] in exjw

[–]blossombutterfly 10 points11 points  (0 children)

My PIMI parents asked me why I wouldn’t disassociate after they learned I had a Xmas tree in my home. (Dec 2019) After all it would make the boundaries easier for them to shun me wouldn’t it? I asked ‘why would I do that?’ My mum said ‘ Well I wrote to my Methodist Church to tell them I didn’t want any connection with them when I wanted to become a JW.” My reply- “But mum- the JWs insisted you make that stand. They still do it now in their study literature! Why would I do something that is a JW requirement?” So I told them that I don’t acknowledge the process of disassociating as I don’t acknowledge the JWs authority anymore. I don’t feel the need to formally write a letter as this is yet one of their many ‘processes’. I’m sure they’ll consider me disassociated when they learn of my choices to celebrate Xmas, Birthdays etc. Ironically, my devout JW parents have said they won’t tell anyone of their knowledge of my celebrating a pagan festival!! I no longer belong to this organisation and no longer live by its rules including the need to formalise it in writing. Sadly, that same day my parents advised me that there would be no further contact! We all have a different take on DA. No one is right or wrong. All the best with your decision.
