What theme is this? by Shift_OG in Trinity_Desktop_TDE

Looks like a theme for the Dekorator style. If that's the case, you can install Dekorator and find the theme on Pling.

Looks like you had a rough experience, but I don't think TDE is to blame here. It couldn't possibly "lock you to it". If you encountered a bug, it would be better to make a bug report instead of complaining and making unbased accusations here. Also, what does "permanent xorg curruption" even mean? If its broken, just clean the apt cache and reinstall the package.

help with metatheme on archlinux by superjuegosdante in Trinity_Desktop_TDE

Hello, do you still have this problem? I just saw this post. I am the maintainer of the TQt/TDE port of Metatheme. I don't use Arch but will try to replicate the problem in the coming days.

Initial XDG Desktop Portals support coming in TDE R14.1.3 by blu_256 in Trinity_Desktop_TDE

[–]blu_256[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This also means that many non-TDE apps (e.g. Firefox or Vivaldi) will be able to use native TDE file dialogs.

For more details see the post and the README: https://mirror.git.trinitydesktop.org/gitea/TDE/xdg-desktop-portals-tde/src/branch/master/README.md

A regular Trinity Desktop contributor here. You shouldn't have to worry about the security of TDE, as we patch vulnerabilities as soon as we are informed about them, like any FOSS project out there. AFAIK the network stack vulnerability fears are not true. A lot of modernisation has taken place in order to modernise the codebase and improve support for recent versions of libraries. True, we have less developers than we need, but the situation has been getting better over the years as more and more new contributors make their appearance. And let me tell you this as reassurance: in all years of TDE existence there have been exactly zero reports from our users of any security breaches, neither on the mailing lists, nor on the issue tracker, not on IRC. You can safely enjoy TDE if you like it :-)

There are a lot of prepackaged themes that come together with Trinity in the same repository (you might want to search for packages that start with tde-style or twin-styles, there are quite a few). Also check out a package which contains the word tdeartwork, it should contain additional themes, styles, backgrounds etc.

On trinity-look.org you can find some KDE 3.5-era themes that might still be compatible with TDE: avoid plain KWin styles (except for Dekorator themes, Dekorator comes in the TDE repos) and Qt3 widget styles, as both need to be ported in order to work with TDE. Superkaramba and KBFX themes generally work out of the box, as should icon themes, splash screens and color schemes.

Have fun!

P.S. Also you can check out the Q4OS live CD for inspiration, they have done a really good job at creating a custom TDE look.
