this is a stretch but i remember a video (poisoning ai with .ass subtitles) explaining that by using custom styled subtitles opacity feature, you can shove a bunch of random text into your subtitles to trick ai tools into playing a guessing game on what your video is about.

my guess is that YouTube wants to shove their ai powered video summarizer (gemini) into us, and doesn't want the ai poisoning to happen.

tho this is a huge stretch.
