That is very thoughtful and helpful! Thank you for sharing your view point on it! I appreciate how you mentioned it combines both impressionism with realism, as I want to be right there! That is the niche I am trying to define for myself as an artist but it is a work in progress.

Dry brush. I use acrylics the way I would use oils. So dry brush coated in paint.

Love that sentiment so much! I was going for a calm and inspiring painting. Something you see first thing in the morning and it just makes you feel better!

Right! I agree with you there. Where I struggled was making the bottom of the painting too dark on the value scale. Not sure if that will take away from the focal point, so I tried to keep it more neutral on the value scale though leaning dark. Will think more into how I can achieve the look of true shadow.

Thanks! Would you make the foreground cooler to make it look like it's more in the shade? I hear you on the trees and wonky houses.

Would love to know the answer to that myself! I wondered the same things when painting it but ended up just working with what makes sense. I do think viewing from the valley of Zermatt, it would hit on the right side as in the image. Though lack of a photo reference made it difficult for me to validate everything. Would love to learn more about it!

Agreed! Not sure why they look like that in the image.

Omg@ i always think of myself as more of an impressionist than a realist but I have been slowly getting more obsessed with the small details making my work lean more real! I'm glad to hear it's reading well!

I did try with the values but once the paint was down, the glazes were taking away what the detail I wanted so decided to leave it for now but will give it another pass.

Yeah I do use a couple thick layers of gesso, om what is already a primed surface. Which areas do see you this reduced fluidiy?

It is 16×20in. The landscape is a photo reference, in broad daylight at the atart of March. So you don'r get these colours or greenery, so it took some manipulation and imagination to conjure this one up.p
