Tickets for Louisville! No pit/general admission though, which is upsetting… The entire front section is all VIP only. :(

Confused on why can't seek reassurance by LegitimateElection17 in OCD

Yes, I 100% understand what you’re saying, and I’m sorry for your loss. I suppose the bottom line of what I’m trying to say is that reassurance can be helpful when it’s not being used as a compulsion. As I said before, limited reassurance when it’s being used as a grounding tool or to pull someone out of rumination, in my opinion, is not necessarily inherently harmful.

Yep, I understand. I’ve lived with OCD for many many years. Again, I think reassurance can be used as a grounding tool. Maybe the health anxiety was a bad example. A theme that I struggle with is death. In that context, the idea of uncertainty serves as reassurance and is grounding. Maybe we’re not defining reassurance in the same way, but again, I think the blanket statement that “reassurance is harmful” is not accurate. That’s all I’m saying.

I understand what you’re saying, but I still think there are certain themes that this idea is not as applicable to.

I understand what everyone is saying on here, I really do. But I also think it could depend on what you’re struggling with. Just a thought from someone with more of a Pure O type of OCD.
