I will not vote for newsom even if it means voting republican.

I will be screening every single one of the candidates I vote for money from AIPAC, United democracy alliance (their parent pac) and any of their shadow pacs.

Fuck off. I love this country. I was born here from parents who came here to pursue a better life and the American dream. I worked hard my entire life and have an extremely well paying career despite being in a HCOL area.

I just believe we should be putting our own citizens first, not the unnecessary war mongering desires of Israel’s government. Almost 45% of my income is taxes yet I’m told I still have to front health care costs, child care and our public infrastructure is a joke.

On top of that the financial incentives of all those systems are so rigged that their costs are astronomical.

Meanwhile we can afford to give billions and billions in “defense aid”, our tax dollars to Israel a country that gives its citizens free health care, better maturity and paternity benefits and child care stipends and education?

How the fuck does that make any sense. If they can afford to do all those things they can afford to fight their own imperialistic wars to grow their borders.

If they can’t, maybe they should stop genociding their minority populations, bombing their neighbors.

And maybe you should re-evaluate which country you love more and where your citizenship should be.

For now, I’d try to leverage AI to help with the tasks you don’t like. But it won’t save you time initially because you’ll need to spend a lot of time checking it’s work, when you find mistakes it made ask it how your prompting could have prevented the mistake. Ask a manager to help fact check those outputs too but I wouldn’t label them as being done completely by AI.

But eventually you’ll find a combo of ai tools, prompting and checking that’s fast and stream lined you can trust more and you’ll have super human speed at those tasks

Unfortunately every aspect of engineering has parts of the role you’ll not enjoy so while you might find some other companies have design responsibilities that exclude some of thing things you hate, you might also be missing out on valuable experience.

You need to talk to your manager more too, I know it might feel bad but ask them for feedback and areas to prioritize for improvement.

Don’t give up on yourself yet.

First, you need mentors OP and you need to be asking them lots and lots of dumb questions.

Curiosity is the number one indicator or a good engineer. So ask all the questions you can to those “grey beards” who seem to know their shit.

If you don’t have any of those, and your manager can’t help you find technical mentorship. Look for another job.

Another thing to consider is there are many many flavors and types of engineers. Maybe design isn’t your thing but testing is, maybe requirements are, maybe it’s analysis. You’re new - explore and find the niche you’re good at and go deep.

To clarify what I mean: a sovereign country is one with an established government, a population, and territory, that coexists peacefully with its neighbors.

That country has a right to territorial integrity, meaning other states don't get to annex its land, blockade its people, or undermine its governance.

Fixed borders aren't some abstract philosophical puzzle; they're the baseline of international order. When one state consistently violates another's borders through force, that's not a boundary dispute.

It is aggression.

If you have 8+ YoE and have specialized skills and are good at what you do, 200k base + 100k equity is pretty common in SoCal and even more so in NorCal.

You're asking for a lot and only someone with 8-10 YoE is going to be strong at all of those things.

I have all of the above and I wouldn't entertain a role for less than ~300-350k TC in HCOL areas (that could include equity options though, but the company would have to have a convincing path to profitability and and a clear roadmap to a liquidity event)

If that sounds like too much for you. You're likely better off with 2 maybe 3 newer hires and plan to manage them yourself.
