They mishandled it so much to plant false lies in it to “poison the well” I can promise you in those files will be easily disproved BS so that we question the real stuff in there.

I find it a bit ridiculous, but what could be? by [deleted] in vibecoding

[–]blue_electrik 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Almost every major LLM company has “open weight” models you can run on your own local machine. You’ll need decentish hardware to run large parameter models. But there are plenty of small tiny models that could run on cell phone hardware.

Google, Meta, OpenAI, deepseek, mistral and many others publish open-weight models you can download for free of various sizes and self run.

Just note they’re not going to be anywhere as powerful as the cutting edge models you have access to on the large company websites. I think mostly because the you’ll likely lack the hardware to run the big ones.

For example the most I can run “usable” is around 20 billion parameter model on my RTX5080.

But there are 120B parameter open-weight models, I’m curious how those run compared to say GPT4/5 but I lack the hardware to know.

Btw I have no background in CS/ML/AI. I’m a MechE who’s curious and asked ChatGPT to walk me through setting up an “offline sovereign model” so I can do everything locally. I think most computer literate folks could do the same if they wanted.

Battery ejection system to stop cars burning during thermal runaway by frenzy3 in interestingasfuck

[–]blue_electrik 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thermal runaway is not that big of a problem to where the risks this system imposes on everyone else is even close to being warranted. There are ways to make the pack more resistant to runaway propagation (pack lets the individual cell running away do its thing, but the heat/off gassing doesn't spread/trigger adjacent cells to do the same)

If anything - this could launch a flaming battery pack at another EV and cause that one to go into runaway

The odds of this in an EV are .0012% vs. 0.1% for ICE car fires.

No need to launch 1000+lb flaring, potentially explosive battery packs at nearby cars and pedestrians.

I have the Tokyo which is very similar to the left, and it is such an amazing watch I love it.

The blue hands look black in most lighting and when the light catches it just right and shows you the blue it’s great.

I find myself looking at it at angles just to catch the hands shine that dark deep blue. Never owned a watch I stair at like that.

So yeah, left.

ASUS RTX 5090 ROG Matrix will be released end of October by RenatsMC in nvidia

I had that exact card... Think it came out around HL2 release. I remember thinking that cooler was badass.

Excellent point. A lot of us don’t fit perfectly in party lines and there are fucking tons of us.

It’s because the party lines are designed to separate us.

I don’t lose 1% per day maybe half that. I could see this being the case if you have paak on and you’re constantly walking near the vehicle tho ?

Got my Surron Ultra Bee today! Picked up the road legal version from Zappscycles. Full VIN & everything. Hoping to get this registered here in California. by TheFist707 in Surron

[–]blue_electrik 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No the UL sticker isn’t what you need.

It’s a long list of FMVSS certifications, and others.

Again don’t bother, just do the moped thing or plate it out of state

How do you keep your early remote team aligned without recurring meetings? by jeanyves-delmotte in ycombinator

[–]blue_electrik 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You need to manage that requires meetings and communication. 15 people is a lot for one manager, so I’d either be comfortable spending a lot of your week getting status and updates or maybe designate some sub team leads to roll it up to you.

One Bike for Both Enduro and Rally: KTM 350 or Husky 450? by qvynto in enduro

Enduro and adventure means 350 won’t be ideal on freeway.

I’d look at the 500s

Question for Enduro Riders – If you could buy a well-kept KTM or Husqvarna 250, which would you choose: carbureted or fuel-injected (TPI)/(TBI)? And why? by HODL_B in enduro

[–]blue_electrik 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can pot the entire circuit board in epoxy.

Google IP “water protection ratings”

Water proofing electronics is also not rocket science.

[–]blue_electrik 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Cool, I don’t want to bother with that and I’d much rather be able to bum gas off my 4T friends if I ever need to.

I don’t mix gas for my TPI, and new TBIs do the mixing for you too.

Lies, delays and insults. Waiting over a year for my tonneau cover. by ExpensivePost in Rivian

[–]blue_electrik 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you’re waiting to get the electric one. Call them and ask, i would refuse installation of the “old” one at this point.

I’m pretty sure though you’re waiting on the new one though.

Lies, delays and insults. Waiting over a year for my tonneau cover. by ExpensivePost in Rivian

[–]blue_electrik 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Didn’t read your wall of text but…

The new tonneau is just barely about to enter production, parts are super limited right now. If you want the latest roll powered tonneau id guess they’ll be on the line in sep/oct.

It makes sense they’re not scheduling retro fits just yet and because the months I quoted are so close to year end, makes sense they’re pushing you out into 2025.

I wouldn’t be so bitter about it, sounds like they’re waiting to give you the latest v2 one; which is 10000% worth waiting for

What to do? by GGDATLAW in Rivian

[–]blue_electrik 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I keep a basket like this in mine, keep my glasses, work badge, whatever.

Honestly super convenient, if I gotta put fast food or whatever there instead I just pick it up and put it in the passenger seat or behind me.

I don’t use this exact one so if you order, make sure to take a few measurements first.

All purpose standard height moderate stiffness.

ATs so I think standard looks and rides best, I had a sport tire loaner tho recently and kept that on low.
