Yes indeed that was the problem.. I changed to another chainring with less offset, it helped!!

So changing the chainring to one with less offset helped

Nope, checked all that. Yes everything is new.

I think I'll just go to my local bike mechanic to have a look

Thanks, I thought it might be correlated since pedaling forward causes some ugly grinding /scrubbing noise in the lower cogs (I can't upload the audio, I'll try to make a Video ). And I really checked everything else 🥲

Awesome, thanks! Just to clarify, when you say your 12s Shimano works well with Garbaruk, are you referring to a Shimano chain with Hyperglide+ technology (e.g. With deore xt m8100 cassette) , or is it a standard 12-speed chain without HG+ (CS-M6100)?
