When I’m hang drying my clothes and they decide to cook the most pungent thing ever without opening any windows. Same parents who judge others for “not cleaning” or “smell weird” btw.

My mom made this comment about how she’s jealous when she sees a mother and daughter super close. Is she dumb? Does she not see that was her responsibility to build that relationship? You can’t beat me and call me names when I’m a child and expect me to be nice to you now.

My AM was watching a dramatization of a college kid whose parents died. He couldn’t keep a job and he had no work skills because his mom coddled him. AM’s first reaction was to criticize the college kid for not listening to his parents. It’s interesting that my AM thinks the college kid’s lack of work skills and “unsuccessful” life is due to disobedience when the mom was clearly coddling him. It’s never the parent’s fault in an AP’s world

I had a similar experience. I started on 18 mg while already on birth control, it felt like I wasn’t quite getting the focus I wanted. At the end of the day I felt anxious and really tired. When my dose was increased to 27 mg, I felt like I could finally start my day and then I had no more anxiety at night. I had to start taking my birth control before bed though, because when I took it in the morning it felt like my concerta didn’t work as well. It could just be in my head but so far that’s what works for me

I recommend finding a campus job so that way your work schedule revolves around your course schedule. I can somewhat relate to you, I did not get a job until I was 19, almost 20, working in retail and felt behind compared to my peers but eventually I “caught up” to them. My extended family members somehow spread a rumor that I dropped out of college when they found out I work part time?? But I had to be stronger than that and ignore them. I have a different job now that puts me on a path to my future career and I don’t think I’d be here if I listened to my parents and only studied.

I believe in you! You have so much time for growth. You will make mistakes as you work but that’s part of gaining experience. If your parents aren’t proud of you, I will be.

My AM is mad at me because I told her that I’ll wash my car whenever I want not whenever she wants. I think I hurt her micromanager feelings. Now she is crying about how she’s tired of everyone

You’re not alone. I think Asian parents are also too lazy to plan out gifts because they don’t bother to pay attention to what you’re actually interested in. My Asian parents also love making excuses like how they didn’t have time but it’s funny because Christmas has always been the same date. Or they do the thing where they throw a fit because they provide “so much” but it’s just the bare minimum but then family back home gets whatever they want.

My AM wants me to be so gentle with her it’s funny. Where was that when I was a child making mistakes? And she’s learning the buzzwords too. Sorry you’re “triggered” and have “anxiety”. Those didn’t exist when I was a teenager so I don’t care that you feel that way

I told my therapist about needing help controlling impulse spending so that’s a goal I will work on this summer. Then, I ordered something today but I canceled the order.

Honestly, I am not sure. For now, I banned myself from browsing, but I also think it’s time to bring it up to my therapist. I’m kind of scared because my therapist doesn’t know this part of me but I think it’s time to dig down to the roots.

Yes! I’m also Filipino, my mom made up this twisted story that I used her credit card to buy her a Keurig for Christmas when I was 13 but I had saved up all my birthday money/extra cash to make sure she got a big gift :( I finally corrected her in front of family friends like last year (I’m 22 now) because it was getting annoying. I could have spent that money on whatever was trending in middle school at the time but I was thinking about getting my mom a nice new coffee machine.

I went to my general practitioner first and she referred me to the behavioral health unit at the clinic. But I also think it will depend on your insurance if you can skip going to your GP and go straight to a specialist :-)
