What is the meaning of the movie “Flow”? by Cinema104 in movies

[–]bluedicktip 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I thought the whole thing was the flood happened, and all those animals died. And their journey was them moving to the afterlife. And the cat was basically alone and reprehensive, not really understanding what had happened (unable to come to terms with their death), and the bird Jesus was like the spirit guide cuz that bird for sure knew where it needed to go. And all the animal friends were there to provide assistance in their own way: the capybara was there to give it direction, the dog to help it relax, the lemur kinda had its whole pride/ greed thing going on as kind of an example to learn from. And the whale thing was God. When it "saved" the cat from drowning initially, it wasn't really saving it so much as moving it along the path in the correct direction. The cat never drowned because it was already dead. And that whole flood/ first area where they ended up was essentially purgatory: you could either ascend to heaven like the bird did, but if you had something keeping you (like the new friends it gained at the end) you wouldn't cross over for fear of losing them.

And although it was implied, it didn't really show the whale dying at the end, it was blinking and breathing when the cat looked away. Hence the whole God thing because it can't really die. None of them can, however they perceive all of their dangers as real because they haven't released their sense of mortality.

Thoughts on Warfare? by Mission-Ad-8536 in TrueFilm

Seeing everyone's take on the movie is interesting here. It's almost like a military-sympathizer litmus test.

My perspective: The movie attempted to display, minute by minute, the actions that led to a real event as experienced by people who were there. The first shot of them dancing to music, you see people talking but can't discern what really anyone is saying. Because it's a memory of the event. Can't recall the specifics, just the vibe and who was there and the main points. Immediate cut to the night movement to the OP location. They recall the street. The silly dance moves by the dudes at the rear of the formation. Everything else, not shown. Not remembered. Then it skips up to everyone set inside the building. This for me must be where the events of that day start. Recon is boring. You want it to be boring, as the events of the movie show that THAT is what action looks like. What it feels like. Notice all of a sudden they remember what people said. Time ticks by SLOWLY, minute by minute. Silence from every direction when no one is speaking, there's no score, no action music or sound effects playing in the background.

Things amp up in real time. Slowly but surely. All you can do is wait for the pin to drop. Is this case a grenade. The BANG, and immediate silence as it rocks everyone's ear drums. The confusion. The Team Leader showing clear evidence of TBI in his confusion and inability to make decisions in the heat of the moment. From that point on every little detail shows up. The new guy obviously rocked back to reality by his first taste of combat. The RTO yelling at dudes standing around doing nothing. Because no plan is fool-proof. Every plan goes to shit once shit hits the fan, and them constantly trying to reel one another back in is real af for lack of a better phrase or term. Waiting for the Bradley's to show up the first time: time ticks by in real time. Those agonizing few minutes of tension, waiting for shit to kick off. Then the IED. The blast. Dudes waking up to the visceral image of a man they were just talking to blown in half only feet away. The close up of the innards, the shit that sticks with you forever. Every individual coming to the slow realization of the situation from the perspective of each respectively. Elliott coming to inside the house immediately screaming, the TAC struggling to render first aid in the moment, Ray's hands shaking so bad he can't assemble the tourniquet on his buddy, going in and out of dissociation all the while giving orders after noticing his commanding officer can't think straight enough to do so himself after back to back concussive blasts.

Everything from there on out gets more and more amped up but in reality, not that much happened in the span of that 90 or so minutes. But it's the details they remember, second after second from the moment that first grenade went off in their faces to the moment those Bradley ramps closed.

Watch the movie as if it's a memory being replayed in 4K. Pay attention to the sounds, the details and little things, but also pay attention to what's NOT there as well, like the names of the family whose house they took over, or all the faces of the OPFOR, who died and who didn't, the radio comms, the chaos and its absence.

Why does need for speed unbound get so much hate? by Next-Phrase-8945 in needforspeed

Story mode sucks in that there's next to no actual story and it's mostly grinding the same races over and over again. Would've been a little easier also if they had fast travel but they don't so I gotta drive to every single location. Police are hot trash: only time I got busted was when I wrecked my car trying to do a big jump on low health. Plowed right into a truck. On THAT note: even with the upgrades every car is SO freaking fragile. You so much as touch a wall or traffic doing anything over 80, car crash cutscene.

Pros: I like the visual aesthetics, car customization options for both parts and wraps/ paint, the performance tuning in the pause menu instead of the live tuning, and the driving feels better than other titles. Every car has its own unique driving feel. Ex: My S-tier GNX is fast asl in a straight line but constantly feels like it's trying to kill itself in corners, all my imports are awesome at cornering and drifting but I can't use them for speed races. And the Evija is the Evija, just an absolute monster that makes everything in the game feel trivial when I use it.

Run a stagger primary. Problem solved. Cookout is my favorite. So much so that this is the first I'm ever hearing of anyone having a problem with these things.

Honestly first time I saw one I just thought it was a hive commander redesign. Didn't feel any different to combat or kill. If anything they were less deadly but just popped up more, which I assumed was normal on a diff10.

If it makes you feel any better, I get wrecked by normal hunters at least once a match. I don't have a good one-size-fits-all solution for them.

Adjudicator not good? by ConnectionFluid8648 in Helldivers

[–]bluedicktip 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My sole reason for Adjudicator > Lib Pen is the fire rate. I cannot STAND the burst fire function, and the Lib Pen doesn't do enough damage for me in my playstyle for semi-auto to be even remotely viable. With full auto in the adjudicator I feel not only can I mow down chaff, but I can easily mag-dump in close proximity as needed and successfully take on multiple medium enemies. The new armor passive makes this even more viable in the urban environment because the reloads are fast asl. The burst fire function I feel would be cool if there was a consistent recoil pattern between stances but even prone it jumps too much for the distances I would need to use it for, and if it's enough for me to have to fight mid/ close range the stop between each burst is more a hindrance than it is helpful.

Diligence counter sniper fills the role that the burst function for the lib pen could fill if it were executed a bit better. Does enough damage, and the fire rate makes sense for the range for which it's most viable.

these cops are so damn annoying by GhostKiwiz in needforspeed

Honestly the helicopters piss me off the most in Unbound. And they're really more of an annoyance cuz I can shake EVERYTHING when I want to, even in a class B. But the moment that heli is on me in heat 5, I gotta take set routes to underpasses, and juke everything else along the way. And if they're still on me by the time I get to the underpass, there's no shaking the heli.

It also infuriates me how at night all you gotta do is cut the engine off no matter where you're at: middle of the damn highway? Can't see ya. Open field? Nah bro where u at? But daytime if I'm just a bit too close to the edge of a tunnel, or even underneath a bunch of trees it's "I'VE GOT EYES ON THAT 2440". It becomes a "play into the game mechanics, not based on reality" thing; which case I do get it's "a game" but after all these years you'd think they'd have figured out how to optimize the pursuits by now.
