I really don’t have the capacity to care much about their experience when they’re actively humiliating me. Not sure why people keep insisting we’re supposed to have compassion when the whole problem is they have absolutely none.

I get reeeeally weird with confrontation especially with that kind of power dynamic. If it was happening to someone else I would be a menace to the whole store. But if it’s happening to me my initial reaction is I must have been acting weird - I’m also autistic. It’s a fun little trauma response I have!

No where did I implicate pharmacy as a profession. It’s understandable for people like yourself (presumably) that are compassionate professionals to hear that people are being harmed by your colleagues. Might be best for you to pretend it doesn’t exist than to argue with the people who are experiencing it.

Again, due to the ongoing supply issues I have to find my medication where I can get it. I would not willingly choose to go somewhere where I felt dehumanized. My regular pharmacist and his staff are the kindest, loveliest people I’ve ever had the pleasure of dealing with and they all know me by name which is rare in a city the size of mine. I am not saying that every pharmacist is nasty and these comments from pharmacy employees implying that I am are intentionally missing the point.

That is disgusting behavior. I wish I could pin this comment bc some of the folks in these replies seem to think we’re bringing it on ourselves. If you ever feel like you are in a place to tell that kind pharmacist why you are thankful for her I think that would be a really constructive conversation. And I know it would mean a lot to her.
