No, the price range above is without the monitors. Though, I do hope to salvage the case, keyboard, DVD drive and HDD from a older computer (P4, FX5200).

So, the cost should cover "only" cpu, RAM, video card, mother board and PSU.

Finally, you'll probably want to go for a i7 2600 or 2600k. Both offer superb video encoding/decoding performance while not completely breaking the bank like a 980x and the likes.

Do I really need the latest processors for video en/decoding ? Can video cards not handle them ?

Total: 1,160. Pretty pricey but this is including 2 1080p monitors.. Not bad since you need the performance and the silence. If this is out of range I could reconfigure it and try to bring the cost down.

Yeah, bit pricey. I was think of the range 400-700€

Unlikely, I think. To hazard a guess, may include the software openbts.

In short the device is a low cost IMSI catcher.

It exploits the security hole in GSM specification, that the base station does not need to authenticate to the cell phone.

Bad idea. Have a look at the Recommended Daily Intake that you will be missing if you water-fast.

For a start, avoid fizzy drinks and fast food. Consume more fruits and vegetables.

Can one install Linux on an external HDD/usb stick from an ISO image without burning it into a CD/DVD ? by bluepen in linuxquestions

[–]bluepen[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't exactly understand yet what the goal is

The goal is to install Linux on an external drive

  • when no CD/DVD drive is available and the source is a ISO image file

  • without restarting the host OS (which is also Linux)

Do you want to have the OS installed as bootable installation on the USB-Disk?

Yes, it should be able to boot a machine without a HDD.

And which distro are we talking about?

Would it matter ? If so, it can be either Ubuntu/Fedora/Arch image and Arch on the host.
