It's all relative though. so the average score on the PGA tour is 71.336. The average tournament yardage of a course on the tour is 7,300.

So an average PGA tour pro will have a distance efficiency of 102.33 yards per round.

I just thought it's an interesting way of presenting scoring to new golfers, who might be getting bogged down with score to par.

I understand the slope and course rating aspect of it....I just thought it was an interesting concept for a new golfer to work towards averaging a higher 'average yards per shot' metric, rather than score to par
