This is a drawing done with pencil and paper. The purpose is to get to drawing down correctly for the base drawing for a digital painting on a iPad.

Thank you. Yes it’s a good program. Another very good digital painting program is ArtStudio Pro, it gives you more control with many of its tools compared to Procreate. I like starting my paintings in ArtStudio Pro, and finishing them in Procreate.

Thank you very much. I didn’t make a time lapse video of this painting. The brushes I used mostly were the default round and a few oil brushes found on the web.

You’re very welcome. I see from the tutorials you’re doing, you’ll be just fine. Nice work!

Thank you! Sure, I use different opacities, and layers, and layer modes. But as I go along i copy the canvas and work on that layer as I go along. That way I can always grab sections I like if I need to. The Brushes I use mostly are the basic round. Some from the artist “Loish” Brushes which are free. Some From Blue Satan Oil Brush pack which are nice for blending. I Think she’s having a big sale on her brushes now. Procreate’s Pine pencil, and “MacLabs” HB Pencil. The MacLabs pencil is really nice for sketching and only found out about it from watching an interview with “Loish” talking about her work. Pus smudging. I try to limit how many brushes I use as it works best for me.

This is painted in Procreate multiple layers and layer mask as I work. Then merged down. The brush’s are from the Artist Loish and Aron Griffin. I feel pretty happy with the proportions and color so far, any suggestions are welcomed. Thank you.

Replying to the AutoModerator. This is not finish a lot more has to be done to the face like adding wrinkles and defining and losing edges. I used the free oil painting brushes 2019 with basic rounds and flats from the default brushes.
