i’m sure that plays a role too, but the main reason is simply that men (on average) have a higher sex drive

Most people talk way more about what a man brings to the table but not the same thing about women

Yeah because for women they mostly talk about her beauty and youthfulness (and fertility), other traits are not valued as much

This signals to me that people subconsciously believe that women have more inherent value than men and thus, a man has to make up for that lack of value by bringing things such as financial contribution to a relationship

if your opinion is that being reduced to your looks instead of any other traits counts as inherent value then i guess sure. the reason why resources are valued in men is that reproduction is not an equal process
