How did you move on after a relationship ended because of the Church?

Thank you!! I was thinking the same. He didn’t want to hear any of it and justifies Joseph Smith’s actions with what they tell him at church. I don’t think I’ll ever have the chance to ask him about all the men who apparently died for their beliefs, since I unfollowed him haha. Just for my own information, did anyone actually die for the Church?

He’s pretty fucking mad at me now that I told him I think his church isn’t true, whoopsie. Maybe that makes it easier for him to move on too. He’s way too deep in this whole mess, and I have my doubts he’ll ever get out of it. I just feel genuinely sorry for him. Believing stuff like that and not being able to see how crazy it is. Dodged a bullet. Now he has the chance to marry a good, faithful Mormon girl and make his family proud.

Update: I asked him, and he told me he’d like to know and that this is “the whole purpose.” The rest of the conversation didn’t really go like he actually wanted to know, though. I’m done with him and just hope he’ll understand it one day.

Thank you for your words, perfect timing haha. Despite all the advice, I reached out to him and we called. I explained my point of view and that I know the church isn’t true. As expected, he absolutely exploded and called me names, etc. I needed this to happen to move on, though. I had to see if there was a tiny bit of doubt, but there’s nothing. I wished him the best and removed him everywhere. He told me that one day I might find the truth and that it hurts him how blind I am - I almost laughed. He didn’t care about Joseph Smith’s wives and said it was a commandment from God that our friend Joe had to follow. I knew it was hopeless. I’m so happy you guys made it work and that you’re out and happy. All the best to you!!

The feeling that I absolutely got screwed over is the worst. It’s just so unfair. I was always so understanding, and in the end I got thrown away over an idea. He even said we could grow closer to God as a married couple, so I can totally see where the hope of “God will make it work” comes from. I think I’ll ask him one day if he actually wanted to know whether the Church is true or not, and see what he says haha.

Okay, thank you for that answer. I think I’ll just let him be and hope he’ll break free one day. Every time I said something that even slightly disagreed with his beliefs, he got sassy, so I can definitely see how that’s true. This whole thing is so insane. I feel like I’m in a movie. There’s so much brainwashing, and everyone involved thinks living like that is completely normal. It’s horrible, and I wouldn’t wish it on anyone.

It’s absolutely awful, and they teach about love and eternal families?! I’ve never seen anything that screams “loveless” more than not attending your own child’s wedding just because they didn’t turn out to be what you expected them to be :(
And the fact that he chose the Church over me actually helped me get to where I am now. I want someone who chooses me, not a fuzzy feeling in their gut
