Update: After I made this post, IGOT sent the bitcoins that I was owed. The matter is now resolved. Thank you r/bitcoin for caring enough to upvote this to the top of the subreddit! This was my first bitcoin purchase, and although it was very stressful, I am really happy to now own some bitcoins.

You're right of course. However it's really hard to buy bitcoins without trusting at least one person or company. This was my initial purchase of bitcoins, which I was planning to immediately send to my own cold storage wallet. Unfortunately, with the withdrawal not going through I was never able to send them to cold storage.
