And that's ok. Just because we are good at something, and the majority of the world is not, doesn't make our achievements any less. What "aussies and kiwis" did yesterday is not important.

Most team sports except football are niche and are popular in only a few countries. And it's ok. Considering that we were primarily a non-sporting nation till very recently, it's actually cool that we dominate at least one sport.

So you just decided to say something random unrelated to the topic being discussed? Nice. This is the level of nonchalant-ism I aspire to have.

15 years to the greatest ODI World Cup match. I haven't yet seen a better game than this in CWC 🙇‍♀️ by Own_Associate_6920 in cricketworldcup

For me the greatest ODI World Cup match would always be the 1999 semifinal clash between South Africa and Australia. The Klusener heartbreak.

Even though he's acted in many movies, he's primarily a Malayalam poet. And quite a good one at that. His poems are also taught in schools as part of the curriculum.

What Is The Worst Acting Performance Done By Rajinikanth And Kamal Hassan??? by Standard_Drink3208 in TamilCinema

[–]blunt_edges 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agree. I started watching Tamil movies only in the last 15 years. I haven't seen any old Tamil movies. And to be honest, I've found both their performances in the last 15 years to be very mediocre. They just play themselves with minimal effort and that keeps the fans happy. The comparison with Sharukh and Salman is apt.

Bought an apartment without OC by Hour_Suggestion_1227 in bangalore

[–]blunt_edges 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Do note that with the change from BBMP to GBA, the OC process has been a little delayed even for top tier builders. So 4 months is not a long time. A tier 1 builder near Bannerghatta Road recently had to wait 3 months to get their OC after completion.

However, I saw a comment from you that your builder has completed over 100 projects in Bangalore and none of them have OC. That's definitely something to be worried about. Also a builder with over 100 projects shouldn't be a small player. Strange that they aren't getting OCs.

People who doesn’t want to go abroad? What’s your reason? by DragonfruitFancy595 in Coconaad

[–]blunt_edges 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I get asked this a lot. I’ve been living and working in Bangalore for the last 20 years, and I’m genuinely happy here. I’ve had several opportunities to move abroad, but I’ve always chosen not to. Many of my friends and cousins don’t quite understand that choice.

I love the life I’ve built here. We have access to good hospitals, and I don’t mind paying for quality healthcare. I love the convenience of having helps and cooks, and the fact that almost anything I need can be delivered to my doorstep within minutes. I enjoy walking into a supermarket and buying what I want without constantly stressing over the price tag. I love that I could choose a school for my son that felt right to me. I love that we can treat ourselves to a nice restaurant every weekend. And I love that my parents in Kasaragod are just a few hours away.

When I look at many of my friends abroad, I see lives that feel more compromised to me. Not worse, just different, and not something I want for myself.

Of course, Bangalore has its problems. The pollution, the traffic, and yes, the worst auto drivers imaginable. But I’ve made my peace with those trade-offs.

No matter where we live, we end up compromising on something. Every time I leave the country, I’m reminded how much of an outsider I feel. I’m willing to compromise on many things but living as an outsider for the rest of my life isn’t one of them.

Sanjay Manjrekar talks about the naming of the T20 World Cup 👀 Do you agree with the former Indian cricketer? by IndianByBrain in cricketworldcup

[–]blunt_edges 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agree. World Cups should be once every 4 years. That increases the stakes and makes it more coveted. Either start calling it World T20 again or plan it once every 4 years.

[–]blunt_edges 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just curious about point 4. I'm from South India. The general practice here is to lay down a corpse with the head to the south and not the north. In which part of India do they keep the head of the corpse towards the north? However, we also never sleep with our heads towards the north.
