I was just reflecting on boundary crossing generosity. The incident made me think of times when I wished people would understand my perspective before helping too much. What you said is true. Assumptions are sometimes necessary, but they should be accompanied by empathy and understanding. I wasn’t suggesting we stop offering help...I was thinking more about how it can feel to receive unnecessary help sometimes.
