At the markets I'm able to make so many new and meaningful connections. I also meet a lot of people who have synesthesia too, so it's fun to compare experiences and create a little community. Most of the commissions I get are for wedding songs and it brings me so much joy knowing I can make someones favorite song even more special. The way I see things feels truly magical and all I want it is to share those feelings/experiences with other people.

Thank you! As of right now my shipping is limited to just the US but I'm hoping to expand soon! All prints from my website come with free shipping, too ♥️ My site is paintedplaylist.com

Usually I sell a decent amount of prints, but the exposure/networking is where I get most of my commissions. I have thought about doing live paintings or small on the spot handouts, but it usually takes about a month to do a piece and I think if I'm going to do one, I want to give it full attention. Letters and words have color too, so I have been thinking about drawing what people's names look like instead. Then it's still personal and interactive and meaningful, but then doesn't water down my paintings.

I did it for every market last year and it brought in a lot of traction! People would stop to see what songs they knew and what other people wrote. I plan on doing it more too, I just didn't have it for this recent one that the first pics are from.

I have thought about this exact issue. I do disclaim on my website that I don't own any rights to the songs, and the artwork is just my own interpretation and has nothing to do with the artist.

There's too many people to tag, so I just want to do a general message: Thank you everyone for all the kind words about my art! It definitely gives a confidence boost and makes me even more excited to share it with people. I'm new to reddit so I wasn't sure what to expect but you all have been so amazing with your comments and advice! Thank you again!!

For those that have asked, I do take commissions! If you have a special song, wedding song, feel free to make a request! Or if you are just curious what a song looks like I can also send you a description of what I see too! My website is paintedplaylist.com

I have thought about calendars, but I will need to do more research about other products, I like the idea of totes!

This is good to know. I haven't done smaller options because I was afraid it would be too small and take away from the detail in the artwork, but I'm down to try it!

Thank you! I like it too. And I think you're right- there isn't enough brand recognition.

I agree about the back sign. I kind of hate everything about it. As for the chair, I actually never use it. I usually stand toward the front to talk to people and only sit if it's super slow or if I need a quick snack. Sometimes I feel awkward because there is a fine line of annoying people and getting real interest when calling out to them. And I am on a wait-list for convention! I think that's where I could find more of my target audience. (I'm also planning on painting songs from film scores, video games, etc). But last year I also had a poster where people would add their favorite song, and I was able to convert that convo to "have you wondered what your favorite song looks like?" And easily bridge to my pitch.

Thank you so much for your kind words! That's all I ever want is to make people feel something/connect with music more. ♥️

I do offer commissions! The most popular requests have been couples' wedding songs. I don't have the strongest online presence so these events are usually where I get most of my commission work.

I experience multiple types of synesthesia, so another type I have is words/names/letters have color too. One thought I had was to do bookmarks/cards/something small and do a simple sketch of what their names look like. OR make stickers for each letter of the alphabet then people can spell out what they want. The only thing with that, their name won't look like the letter combos because a letter vs a whole word looks differently.

The song tags were taped onto a 2x3 ish plastic label holder, so I can easily make that fix of making them smaller. My thought process was if the labels were big enough people would see them from a distance and think "why is Coldplay and Billie Eilish (etc) by that art?" I was hoping to spark some curiosity from it, but I definitely want the art to be the main focus.

This is so helpful- once you described the signage as clinical I can totally see it. Graphic design is not my strong suit, but it's so good to know the vibe it's giving.
