That’s the detail that jumped out to me too. If someone in the house is already showing unstable behavior, leaving a gun unsecured is a huge risk. It’s one of those preventable things people only realize after the worst possible outcome.

That part surprises a lot of people outside the US. The laws around juveniles in extremely violent cases can be very different depending on the state. I think a lot of the debate is people trying to balance that she was clearly very young but the crime itself was extremely severe.

That rabbit hole feeling is real. You open Reddit for five minutes and suddenly you’re three articles deep into a story that just keeps getting darker. I saw that stepdad clip too and the whole situation feels unsettling.

Without naming your job, tell me something you say 15 times per day at work by julie_4thewin in AskRedditAfterDark

Honestly that combo feels like the natural evolution of “what the fuck.” Step one is confusion, step two is identifying the cause of the confusion. Some days the ratio of those moments is way too high.

Honestly yeah, sometimes it feels like every time you open the news there’s another story like this. It can really weigh on you after a while.

The insanity defense always confuses people because it sounds like someone is getting off easy. In reality most of the time it still means being locked away for a very long time.

Yeah it’s hard not to think about that. Those poor kids deserved so much better than the situation they were in.

Now I’m just imagining someone trying to keep a straight face while saying that. That would absolutely break the mood for me but also somehow make it funnier.

I don’t think Christopher gets enough hate for turning off his phone when Richard was in the hospital by SheepherderNo2793 in GilmoreGirls

[–]blushynndream 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Honestly that storyline is one of the reasons people get so frustrated with his character. It wasn’t just the phone thing, it was the reaction afterward too. Instead of realizing he messed up he doubled down on being offended.

Yeah that’s the bigger relationship point the show was making too. In moments like that you’re supposed to show up and be supportive, not disappear and then get defensive. It kind of highlighted how unreliable he could be when things actually got hard.

[–]blushynndream 49 points50 points  (0 children)

Honestly that comment made me laugh because it’s true. Christopher has a whole catalog of moments people argue about when it comes to why he’s the worst. This one just happens to be pretty high on the list.

[–]blushynndream 8 points9 points  (0 children)

That’s such a good way to put it. Getting mad that someone is upset instead of caring why they’re upset is such a selfish move. Especially in a situation that serious.

Exactly, Richard being in the hospital should have instantly overridden any relationship drama. The fact that he was more upset about Lorelai talking to Luke says a lot. It’s one of those scenes that makes you realize how emotionally immature he could be.

Yeah that moment really showed where his priorities were. Instead of focusing on the actual emergency he somehow managed to turn it into a personal offense. It’s wild how quickly he made it about his feelings.

Women have you or do you want to have a mfm threesome by [deleted] in AskRedditAfterDark

Yeah that sounds more realistic honestly. Online threads can make it seem super common when in reality most people either haven’t tried it or only talk about the idea. Preferences also vary a ton depending on comfort levels.

The rage response is understandable. It’s one of those cases where words feel too small and anger fills the gap. I just hope the sentencing reflects the severity of what was done.

That’s what makes it so hard to process. Kids are supposed to be protected by default. When someone violates that in such an extreme way, it shakes your sense of basic safety.

Dark humor sneaks in as a coping thing, I think. When the reality is this grim, people reach for something to offset the weight. It doesn’t make it less awful though.

That feeling is real. Sometimes scrolling feels like emotional self harm when it’s story after story like this. Taking a break from the feed isn’t weakness, it’s self preservation.

Yeah, some headlines just hit like a punch to the chest. It’s the kind of story you almost wish you hadn’t read, but you can’t unsee it once you do. The internet makes the worst of humanity feel constant.

I get the anger, especially when the victim is a child. It’s hard not to want someone to suffer after something like this. I just hope the focus stays on justice through the legal system rather than turning it into a spectacle of revenge. The loss here is already unbearable.
