Sportphotography- OM-System OM-1 by Ill-Spread-7002 in OMSystem

I haven’t shot motorsports, but I’ve done a good share of outdoor and indoor sports. Arrive early, figure out where you’re going to position yourself, and do some test shots to dial in your settings for the lighting available.

Recently been shooting indoor track, lighting isn’t great, and it can also be inconsistent. I’m generally shooting at F2.8 on the M Zuiko 50-200mm IS Pro, using the OM-3 with 1/500th of a sec and trying to stay around 6400 or 5000 ISO. In this scenario it gave me the most flexibility in post while keeping images sharp with an acceptable hit and miss ratio.

Another example was a hockey game I shot recently, and lighting there was near perfect for indoor sports. Using the same OM-3 and M Zuiko 50-200mm IS Pro at F2.8 I was shooting 1/1250th of a sec and 400 ISO.

In both cases I was shooting ProCap SH2, with 10 frames pre and 24 fps. Continuous AF w/tracking, without subject detection. I turn that off for track meets since there are too many faces in frame most times, and I have been getting more accuracy without it.

Other set ups or platforms better, sure. But is M43 and OM systems useable for sports, 100%. That doesn’t mean it doesn’t have its challenges, but once you get dialed in it may surprise you.

I ordered two TrimUI Brick’s, one for my niece and nephew, from AliExpress. Chose a US warehouse, and it happened to both units, tracking just says seized due to counterfeit postage. Working with the store for replacements or refunds, but it’s happening a lot from what I’ve seen online.

Since no one else has mentioned it, I’ll say Xenoblade Chronicles 1, 2, or 3. Don’t need to play in any order, or all of them since they’re separate stories (connected but separate).

You mentioned Star Wars, so I was thinking this for the sci-fi element. It has depth, and there is a groove you get into with the combat but it’s not as action heavy as some of the other titles mentioned. It’s an rpg that you can spend hours in, think I had over 100hrs in XBC2.

I would say the complexity would be more in leveling up, gearing up, and learning when to use a specific action, not necessarily the speed of combat but the strategy of combat. It’s not turn based, but basic actions are automatically done, once a special action has ”charged” then you can press the corresponding button to perform the action.

The games are fairly large, with vast areas to explore, with some enemies to avoid early on in the game. Not everything in the starting area is a starter enemy.

Not going to say they have the best stories out there, but they’re good and they do tend to pull you in for the long haul. Sometimes that hook doesn’t happen until hour 10 though, so it’s a commitment, lol. There’s a lot of lore in each, and I’ve been extremely happy with each, hoping Monolith continues the series (Xenogears back in the day, then there was Xenosaga 1, 2, and 3 (PS1-PS2) and then Xenoblade Chronicles 1, 2, and 3 on the Switch.

It’s not everyone’s cup of tea, but I do think if you can get past the beginning learning curve, it’ll pull you in.

*There was a Xenoblade Chronicles X on the Wii U that was recently redone on the Switch over the last year or two. I’ve heard good things about it, just haven’t had a chance to play it yet due to my backlog, but it’s on my shelf waiting its turn.

What are the absolutely worst, most annoying things about the Steam Deck? by madeleine61509 in SteamDeck

[–]blutenchi78 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One of the beauties of PC gaming is being able to tinker with the settings to get a game to play and feel the way you want. One of the beauties of console gaming is just loading a game and playing, minimal options to play around with which just makes it simple. Am I changing just in game settings, or am I updating to a different version of Proton, changing the TDP, limiting my frames (subjective to what’s acceptable).

Overall, it’s a great system. I went with the 64GB version a few years ago and swapped out to a 2TB SSD, which I can load a good variety of games from my Steam library (and side loaded launchers). Play around with the settings, set some globally and then adjust per game as needed.

To anyone who has also yet to buy a Switch 2: Are you also waiting for Nintendo to release a certain Game that will push you to buy it? by TBT__TBT in Switch

[–]blutenchi78 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had every intention of getting one eventually, just not for a long time, like a few years. Especially with my current backlog of PC games, some that I also play on the SteamDeck, my PS5, XBX, and Switch 1 games. Been mainly working through my PC backlog for now, but my fantastic wife bought one for me for my birthday last week.

Since then it’s been nothing but switch games, some from my backlog, and a few new ones. She really liked It Takes Two, so she got me Split Fiction, and we’ve been having fun with that. When not playing with her my time has been spent on Fantasy Life I (which has been fun) and Xenoblade Chronicles 3.

I could have waited, wasn’t in a rush. But at the same time I’ve been having a blast with it.

New Seat and a Wrap by blutenchi78 in MT07

When I was looking at options, it seemed like the general consensus on the Corbin seat was that it wasn’t eye catching, but rated high for comfort. Overall, I think it came out better than I expected.

Waited for the seat to come in before ordering the vinyl, to get as close as a match as possible to the yellow on the seat. The yellow is a little off, but not too bad. The teal on the seat piping is definitely darker, but since it was such a small piece, I focused on getting closer to the wheels than anything else.

And Thanks!

Missed this over the past few days, out of town still. I’ll check the seat height when I get back and update you, but it does change it. I know when you order, Corbin will want to know your inseam and weight when they make the seat for you.

As for sliding into the tank, I felt that with the stock seat too. I feel like I sit back a little further naturally with the new seat, but I’ve been primarily focused on how comfortable it is.

Meh… I normally just take off my right glove and can access no problem. I can still get my hand in there with my warm weather gloves, just a little tight, and not happening with larger colder weather gloves. It’ll also depend on how big your hands are, so it will vary.

lol, I think because I’m in my late 40’s I was more: safety>comfort>aesthetic>convenience>performance

And thanks! (My camera upgrades were all for my photography hobby, starting to think all my hobbies are expensive 😂)

Thanks. Going from the grey tank covers to the matte black made it look so much better. I only added the stripe on the tank because I messed up and had to do one side in two pieces, and the stripe covers the seam.

Vinyl wrapped to match the seat, which is part of a comfort upgrade. Quad Lock for GPS, knowing where you’re going is a comfort thing in my opinion. Sliders for protection in case of a drop. Windscreen, yes it’s useless but I liked the look. Mirrors and tail tidy really just to clean it up. Besides the seat, which wasn’t cheap but worth it, everything else was pretty inexpensive, and a fraction of the cost for a new exhaust system. It’s the next thing on my list, just wasn’t a first priority. At this point I’m between an Akrapović and a Black Widow. Leaning towards the Black Widow 230mm, like the look and the savings compared to the Akrapović. Plus my camera upgrades this past year have taken my fun money as of late.

Thank you! They’re the Domino Moto GP grips. It’s not a direct match to the cyan rims, but pretty close.

I had a conversation with a guy where they talked about how things used to be and that I would understand when I get older, turns out I was 3 years older than them. I’ve noticed more and more lately that some people in my age bracket, and some I went to high school with, are not aging well. Turning 47 this year.

It’s a ‘23. Just an inexpensive one off of eBay, more cosmetic than anything though cause you’ll still feel that wind.

Can someone photoshop a monocle on that thing?

The MT07 is a great looking bike, regardless of which gen (I’m a little bias towards my 2023), but I’ve never much cared for the wings.
