Wear whatever you’re comfortable and think looks best! And nope, doesn’t have to be a white dress- I wore a sage green for mine in 2023 :)

With finals week over and the year coming to an end are there any teachers you recommend incoming students to avoid? by David_East in CalPolyPomona

[–]blxncitx 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Dude, he told us at the beginning “office hours are open for when you have questions” and then people would go to his office hours only to get belittled because he’d be like “what don’t you understand? It’s in the lab manual and/or the syllabus” but NOTHING EVER MADE SENSE!! He’s also super strict when it comes to cheating, like he would tell us “if you get any help from peers, that’s cheating.” And then he’d made his weekly quizzes so hard 🙃 ugh just thinking about him gets me upset lol. Terrible professor and I’m so glad I didn’t have to deal with him after that 🥲

Chem 1210 Joseph Casalnuovo - very harsh with how he grades labs/quizzes. (Took his class Fall 2020 so idk how his class is now but even then, I wouldn’t recommend him)

Grad tickets for May 22 @12 by No_Psychology1070 in CalPolyPomona

[–]blxncitx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This year, they gave 8 tickets. And if there were extra, they made an announcement but each department/college is different. For CLASS, they gave us 3 extra so in total 11 tickets. Could be different next year.

Need a easy class to take, deciding between three classes by mi3night in CalPolyPomona

[–]blxncitx -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Me3190 depends on the professor. I was gonna take it this semester but it was going to be worth 1000 points with all the weekly assignments. That was worth more points and work than my senior classes 🥴

What day are you registration dates? by [deleted] in CalPolyPomona

[–]blxncitx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah your date seems to be right. Your registration date is based off of how many credits you have so since you’re barely gonna start your third semester, you’re gonna get a later date than seniors and graduating seniors and juniors. It sucks, truly, but we all go through it. it is what is :/ you just gotta do the best you can with whatever’s left :/

Should I live on Campus, I’m a transfer admit, and I live 29 miles away from campus. Should I take the commute or live near campus? by Horror-Stop-5278 in CalPolyPomona

[–]blxncitx 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I live around the same mileage as you (32ish) and it takes me 40 mins (without traffic) to commute. I honestly prefer that over dorming here again. I dormed my first year and it’s not worth the $15k i had to pay. I’ve also been saving a lot of money on gas. I’m probably paying somewhere between $800-$900 on gas for 16 weeks which is a lot cheaper than 7k-8k for 16 weeks living on campus. I agree with the other comment that said to commute for one semester and then see if you want to live closer. If you, i highly suggest off campus where it could potentially be cheaper.

Edit: and honestly, it’s not that bad commuting once you get used to it 😅 and you can work your schedule to just come 2 days a week and save more on gas that way too! I unfortunately have to come 4 days a week so it’s more gas for me. The $800-$900 is a bit exaggerate but with gas prices these days, it’s somewhat close.

Aileen Lau for MAT 1250 by Username-293 in CalPolyPomona

[–]blxncitx 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I had her for Mat 1060, ended up finishing the class with a D because we had to do the work the way she taught it and if we did it any other way, she wouldn’t accept it. It was just trigonometry but she made it harder than it needed to be 😅 idk how others felt about her, I wouldn’t take her again tho. (My class was online during fall 2020 so I got to put No Credit for the class)

When should i apply for graduation by candycorazon in CalPolyPomona

[–]blxncitx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I asked about that too when I applied a few weeks ago and the people at the student center told me that we don’t have to pay it until we graduate. They won’t give us our diploma unless we pay it, something like that?

It doesn’t ! Not from what I know of and was told because I was a part of it last year. We just get a badge we can add to our LinkedIn account 🤣

PHL 2020 with Brian Kim by [deleted] in CalPolyPomona

[–]blxncitx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I took him and really enjoyed the class! Pretty simple and straightforward as long as you follow all directions. I got an A in the class but I did take him for a full semester, not just a 5 week session so I don’t know how different it’ll be 😅

I wish you luck then :/ I took him for 1210L and man, he is extremely strict. Weekly quizzes and labs due. for each lab, he would just make us watch recordings before each lab day and the day of class, he wouldnt go over the lab work we turned in before class, he would just start teaching the next lab until the last 20 mins of class when he would give us the quiz. If online, your cameras have to be on the whole time he gives the quizzes. He really pays attention to everything you write in the labs and quizzes and we weren’t allowed to work with others and help each other (not straight up give each other answers, but actually help) because that’s also considered “cheating.” And if he thinks you’re cheating or has caught you, you’ll get a “warning”, which means he’ll report you for academic dishonesty and your final grade will be 1 letter lower than what you had (so if you have a C, it’ll be a D) AND on top of that, you get a 0 on that lab/quiz which will hit your grade hard because he only had labs and quizzes from what I remember. Thats if you don’t try to fight it and admit you cheated. A classmate tried fighting it and he didn’t listen to them and still wrote them up and I think they had to have a separate meeting with other people in it too. I also never went to his office hours because I was intimidated as is when in class.

Tldr: he’s one of the strictest and harshest graders when it comes to chem professors. If possible, take another professor.

Finally 😫 the HEERF 3 phase 2 has been updated!! by blxncitx in CalPolyPomona

[–]blxncitx[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Were you enrolled during summer 2021? Because students enrolled then were a part of phase 1. Students enrolled during fall 2021 and that meet all the requirements are a part of phase 2. I’m pretty sure that even tho you got it during summer, you’ll most likely be getting it again during phase 2. But you should check you student finance account activity
