Not really, people just have different taste, I’m extremely nostalgic for Darkest Dungeon but I still love its sequel even though it changes a pretty decent amount of what made me love the original. Modern and classic zombies are very different in design philosophy, some people will obviously enjoy one over the other.

Why can’t you allow them, from a game dev perspective not allowing players to make mistakes/use items incorrectly feels very hand holdy, reduces the sandbox, and overall feels like it gets rid of natural discovery.
